mmmm depends what you like, how much money you want to spend, how long you have.
 Tokyo and Kyoto are obvious destinations - both great places.  Kyoto people are very friendly and the place is packed with temples.
  If you go to Tokyo, I`m happy to suggest interesting stuff - the Ghibli museum, Akihabara, the earthquake practice centre....email me any time for more specific tips.
