arf, not heard that one for a while!

Beautiful work as always - just a shame they're not all to scale (I know the irritation - I own the 3A Mongrol (1/12) and their Ro-Jaws (1/6)

As a teen I appreciated his whimsical* children's work, but When the Wind Blows had a huge impact on me.

Our very own Crazyfoxmachine adds his thoughts in the Grauniad https://www.theguardian.com/books/2022/aug/10/raymond-briggs-remembered-he-made-what-he-did-look-easy-which-is-of-course-what-geniuses-do

*which on reflection was in no way whimsical - he freaking melts man!

Okay, three episodes in and calling it a night.

Still enjoying it overall but Jenna Coleman is just as fucking annoying in this as she was in Dr Who. I had enough trouble getting my head around Keanu as John Constantine, but this is too much.

Hoping we'll see far less of her from here on, still optimistic.

First thoughts: Happy fanboy - Of course there had to be some big liberties taken with the details, but they've "got it" overall.

So, that's where I'll be for the next 2-3 hours

Just about to start Sandman. I'm genuinely nervous about seeing the perfect graphic novel 'adapted'.

But I pledge this ahead of the experience: If I hate it, I'll simply stop watching, safe in the knowledge that the books remain as good.

Nah, I'll probly just watch the rest and bitch about it. *sigh*

I'm also a bit confused by the world-building. My assumption is that Eleven created the upside-down as a snap shot of Hawkins when she killed Henry the first time, but what's its relationship with the world that she actually sent Henry to when she defeated him? Is the upside-down the bridge between the two? And which one of them is bleeding into Hawkins, now? Or am I wrong, and they're the same thing, or something I just missed entirely?

My take was that Eleven blasted him into some unformed chaotic dimension containing a big nasty entity, but it was Henry/Vecna who shaped it into an upside-down version of Hawkins

Agree with the consensus that it was fun ride, but an ending that left me a bit deflated. You either need an unequivocal win which you invert in the next season; or a grim defeat which is to be tackled next season (like they did with Infinity War/Endgame). This thrilling victory, immediately followed by portentious doom was .. unsatisfying somehow.

Aye that was a damn shame. Bloody shitty transport! I wasn't the only one looking forward to catching up with you again.

Another good weekend though - Props to Su and the team for organising. Despite all the top talent in attendance - Wagner, Bolland, Fabry et al - I think I was most excited to meet Conrad off Spacespinner!

Thank Grud nobody pays attention to the media...

I like the fact that Levar Burton is touted as the "new Spock" because of his "robot eyes", but Data is just an android with superior strength.

Looking forward to it. I apologise in advance for forgetting people's names and faces.

Learnt from this article they've tried a bunch of times to reboot already. Is this a cynical effort to keep the rights from reverting to Moore & O'Neill?

Was LOEG creator-owned or would the rights revert to the publisher?

For example, the 1984 Fantastic Four film.

I actually like this - the budget/effects are shit, but it's better than some of the later ones

I enjoyed it. The new characters were interesting and there was suitable levels of fan-wank in bringing back old stars (although some were a bit of a stretch. Would have been great if Corey had just said "shut up Wesley" and walked away.)

Sir Patrick did look old though - I had to cheer myself up most weeks by following it with a TNG episode to remind myself of young(er) vigorous Picard

Film & TV / Re: Paramount Plus To Launch in UK.

The streaming service Paramount Plus is to be made available in the UK. All your Trekkie needs will be available in one place, including the new prequel saga Strange New Worlds, with Captain Pike, Spock and Number One. Would you shell out for new TV service? Blurb line below.

Good job I'm most of the way through a massive Trek rewatch, as I assume they'll be disappearing from Netflix when this happens.
