I had a vague memory of Enigma having been covered by the Mega-City Book Club, but I can't find it in the archives - guess it must have been mentioned in an episode about another collection?  Eamonn - I'm not volunteering!

Raymond Briggs, comic artist, 88.  Creator of Fungus the Bogeyman, When the Wind Blows but probably most famously, The Snowman.

If the choice is between so-called pretentious Sandman or willfully inane Big Dave (other "comics are disposable rubbish" stories from the 1990s also available) then I know which I'd pick.

Happy Birthdaay to Jesús Redondo now aged 87

One of my high points of the 2000AD 40th was meeting Jesus.  Pleased to say that Jesus considers their magnus opus to be Mind Wars, which is also my favourite work by him.

The FBI raided Trump's home in Florida to execute a search warrant and opened his safe.

I have a nasty feeling that, short of a prison conviction prior to the 2024 election, this is going to be a massive boost for him, sadly.  He'll play the martyr card successfully as he's always done.
I think/hope that with Murdoch turning on him, he's done for. Of course, with DeSantis in the wings to take up the throne of most despicable Republican/human, I'm in two minds whether this is a good thing.

Director of the FBI appointed by Trump himself, amusingly!

TV series are all well and good, but if Sandman is literally an isuue of the comic per episode, reckon I'll stick with the comics.

It isn't - some episodes have been, some have been two stories compressed in to one episode, others have been half a story arc moved around a bit.

Significant slice of Delano/Piers Rayner Hellblazer sneaked into Sandman Ep3, even using Delano’s Casanova/Newcastle wordplay to set it up. Maybe there was an acknowledgment further down the credits than I sat through but, still, felt a little… dodgy.

Still enjoying the series overall, but that bit…  I dunno.

Delano was credited, and you appear to have more reservations than Delano himself does, if twitter thread is anything to judge.

Piers Rayner also got a credit.  In fact, Richard posted a screengrab of the credits for that episode - present were Stephen Bissette, Mike Carey, Steve Dillon, Garnder F. Fox, John Ridgway, John Totleben, Len Wein, Chris Brunner, Jamie Delano, Garth Ennis, Richard Piers Rayner, Mike Sekowsky, Rick Veitch and Bernie Wrightson.

Yep, what others have said - Insurrection might be at Dreddverse W40K, but W40K is Termight with a smattering of Dredd in the first place (not surprising as the authors of 40K released the first rulebook the year after they released the JDRPG).

I keep banging on about this, but the reason I jumped on to the Squaxx train was Skizz and The Slaying of Slade - both of which ended in the first prog I actually bought.  Luckily Nemesis came along shortly afterwards to keep me on the train.  There are only one or two other thrills which would even cause me to have to ponder which pick, so Insurrection is no less for not being my pick on this one.

I gather The Sandman is the top Netflix streamed show in around eighty countries - so it's only a matter of time before the announcement is made that the second series has been greenlit...
54 out of 89 markets, according to this website (the majority of the other markets it's in 2nd or 3rd place).

Democracy Now

Do you mean Letter From a Democrat?

From the description I suspect that all the John Higgins-drawn democracy stories would fit, so presumably the collection of Letter From a Democrat and Revolution.

I certainly think that having the next available* special devoted in a style similar to the Carlos Sci-Fi Special would be a good idea.

* meaning where practical, taking in to account the time needed to contact creators, co-ordinator art, etc.  I wouldn't expect the Hallowe'en / Winter special (if there is one this year, haven't kept track) to be the candidate.

I see a Labour Shadow Minister  has been sacked for attending a Picket Line.  Glad in one way that Starmer is making my decision to leave the Party justified so quickly.

I presume you read that in the Tory media?  Seeing as other Labour MPs have attended picket lines and not been sacked...

Giving him full ownership of all his 2000ad characters along with a grovelling apology, a million pound bonus and a statement etched on a solid gold plate stating the Pat was right about everything all along wouldn't make him happy
Probably true, but if he wasn't so angry all the time, could he have created something as great as Nemesis the Warlock or Marshal Law or Charley's War? That's a rhetorical question, I honestly don't know the answer.

"Anger is an energy"*
