I love some Grist. I have issues of the amazing indie comic Lucifer somewhere. That's the Eddie Campbell/Paul Grist book. Top work.

Quote from: Trout on 05 November, 2023, 09:48:43 PMI also want to read more Metamorpho stories by Bob Haney because he was (a) the character's co-creator and (b) bugfuck mental. Fun!

Also great Ramona Fradon art. Fun series.

Indeed! The other co-creator. Still drawing at 97!

Quote from: Marbles on 04 November, 2023, 08:15:40 PMMy comics are all in long boxes in the loft sadly. I only have a few GN's and Omnibus's in my 'office' and some original art on the wall, but they all mean a lot to me  :D

Absolutely thrilling stuff there, colonel!

Quote from: Colin YNWA on 04 November, 2023, 02:40:45 PMOh man that is super sexy. I love that. Reminds me I need to update my Self Absorbed Nerd room thread at some point. Just too many boxes of comics for sale on the floor at the moment.

I love to hear about a ordering system. Are you strict in your publisher / title / issue # system? it how I used to do it but now its all a bit more thematic.

Also nice to see even in Marvel corner Metamorpho keeps guard to keep those pesky Marvel titles in check.

MORE PLEASE.

Thanks! I am quite married to that system, although it mainly works because I have some well-used miscellaneous sections that let me avoid tough decisions.

And that Metamorpho book was a surprise hit after I acquired it in a bundle I bought off somebody on FB Marketplace. I plan to hunt down the other issues - it was a mini-series. I also want to read more Metamorpho stories by Bob Haney because he was (a) the character's co-creator and (b) bugfuck mental. Fun!

I need to buy less stuff... but here's a quick tour of my comic book room. I'm constantly sorting and refiling things, and I have a plan to make it far more organized this winter. Some of these boxes are empty, ready for a reorg. Click on the pics to embiggenate.

It's based on a loose system of: publisher > alphabetical by title > sequential by issue number. But there's a lot of piling things up for later. I'll get to it.

Starting with the British comics corner, mostly 2000 AD. That original art is going on my bedroom wall, after I finally find time to paint it.

Moving widdershins, we see the shelves for general graphic novels and start to see the DC boxes, which is the bulk of the collection.

Those DC boxes, with graphic novels vaguely alphabetical along the shelves. The boxes on the left belong to my kids and include some very well-loved books.

And the Marvel corner. I should get more boxes for these guys. I'm not that into Marvel.

So that's a quick tour. The wall you don't see is a fitted wardrobe full of the empty boxes for collectables on display in the main house. I have more bookshelves upstairs too, of course, including some specially-designed shelves (in lovely local walnut) that bear most of the contemporary, non-superhero stuff - it's mainly Canadian "literary" graphic novels, as the bookstore calls them. For the last several years I've written a regular GN reviews column for the Toronto Star, so I get a lot of books in the mail.

And there is also the office... Perhaps I'll share that bookshelf here one day.  :)

Cheers

OMFG this wonderful thread. And nowadays, as a divorced dad-about-town, I have an entire house full of geeky tat, including a comic book room. Maybe I'll do some shares soon!

Hey, I only just read the full thread here for the first time and, despite the sadness in it, I was happy to see so many old friends.

Hello, everybody! Say hi sometime. How nice to see you all again.

(No, this is NOT a trick.)

Yup, all the time. And it's a good line. People like it and I have to explain it's not mine.

I may also have once introduced myself to a newspaper production staff by saying: "I'm a stickler."
