Wife leaves for Afghanistan tomorrow night, but I'm keeping my chin up. We signed up for online scrabble to make time pass...but still, six months of seeing her only through a little video screen via skype just really sucks. Plus, I worry about her constantly out there. Blah.

I always found it was easier being away than how Carolyn said she felt being at home without me.
The main reason being for me was that I had my mates with me doing the job and just getting on with it and obviously R&R was with them again!
Carolyn said it was weird, as stuff was always on the news and people didn't know what to say to her when I was away! Plus she was living her normal life but with me missing, as she was still at home!

So I can't say that I know how you feel Matthew but I will say that I could do with another crate of those Cherry Pepsi's

Hang in there matt. I was single through my army career so I only put friends and family through it. Thinking about it that makes no difference they must have gone through the same worry. I must have come across as a right self centred cunt when I got back from the gulf as I went on a month long booze fest. I think I had saved about 4 grand over that period and I probably drank most of it.
Its comments like yours that make me take stock of my life.
As I said at the start of this waffle. Hang in there.

My wife is on her way to Afghanistan  .

I just hope she comes back safe to her family and that this is the last time she has to endure this. I want to thank everyone who has supported me here and on my facebook page.

Last year I signed up on the forum shortly after she was sent to Afghanistan and this place helped me through that tough time. I got to know many of you, and by the time we met I felt pretty darn close to several of you. As always, I'll look to this place and all the crazies who dwell here for a little bit of fun and diversion. Thanks in advance fellows.
