General / I finally ditched my progs
19 August, 2005, 11:27:31 PM
Yup, last weekend I flogged over twenty years worth of the galaxies greatest and a complete run of the Judge Dredd Megazine. The question of storage had been dogging me for a couple of years, and the birth of my daughter pretty much sealed the fate of my collection. It's actually quite liberating to ditch your prized collection and I'm chuffed with all the space I've made. So thanks to Paul for the cash and LMS for putting us in touch. Whether I'll keep up with the subscription is still up for debate. I really expected big things from Rennies last Dredd but it left me feeling cold. I'll see where he takes this latest story arc before making my mind up. Anyway, thanks to Tharg for the thrills and the board for all the time I've wasted here over the past 4 years. Maybe I'll be back? Cheers!

Help! / Were You Buying My Progs & Megazines?
25 July, 2005, 06:37:12 PM
Help!!!! I was talking with a member of the board a month or so ago who was interested in buying all my 2000ads and Megazines for about 200 quid. Unfortunately, recent family events led to me been unable to finalise the sale and it never went through. So if you were the guy near Leeds that wanted the collection and are still interested then please get in touch. I'm really sorry but I've completly forgotten your name (was it chris?!?) and have lost your email. Sorry!

God it's been months since I last visited the board, let alone posted on it. Fatherhood and my Nintendo DS have pretty much taken up all my spare time. Anyway the reason I popped back in for a look was to see what you guys made of the latest Dredd story arc. The artwork is shite but the story is cracking. As for which character dies, well it pretty much looks like all of them at the minute. And did Rennie have to ask John to let him massacre his supporting characters? Anyway, nice to be back, even if it's only for today. See you around.

General / Re: huge comic collections...why ?...

Well I've finally taken the plunge and I'm in negotiations with a fellow boarder to get rid of my whole collection. 20 years of progs and Megazines take up a lot of precious space. I'm never going to reread them and only continue to keep them out of force of habit. I'll probably have mixed feelings when they go, a bit like loosing an old friend. Mind you that new PSP the money will buy should smooth things over!

I'm 2 months into fatherhood and the one thing that is becoming rapidly clear is that I simply do not have enough room to house my bulging 2000ad collection. I'm a bit reluctant to flog the lot on eBay and don't want to break the collection up. Soooooo....if any one on the board is interested in owning the entire run of the Megazine to date and 2000ad from issue 255 then drop me an email. I'm not looking to charge a fortune, infact I just want to swap the damn lot for a PSP, so if you can take them off my hands for about 200 quid then let me know. I'll also listen to any other serious offers. If you then want to break the collection up on eBay then that's up to you. As I said, I just can't be arsed doing it!

Yet another DC reprint to ensure the rights don't fall back to the rightful owner, Alan Moore. Bastards.

ello floyd. just got back here myself. and don't reckon I'll be staying for long. after missing a month of in-jokes I feel like a newbie again. That and the fact that 2K seems to be rarely discussed here anymore ;)

Due to the arrival of my first child, and the lack of space I now have, I've decided to put my entire run of Dredd Megazines on eBay, rather than have them stuck in the loft gathering dust. But what's a fair price for the collection? I can't be arsed breaking it up and flogging individual issues, so could somebody make a suggestion for a reserve price. Ta!

That's not the best episode, surely that one must fall to Daphne dying on Des "I love you Clarkie...[croak]". Failing that, the one where Keri Bishop was shot by duck hunters. Comedy duck whistle, BANG!, one dead animal rights activist!

This does happen all the time I'm afraid. the best work-a-round I've found is to accept the job on the condition that you don't actually see the other agencies pitch, but the client briefs you in on the job based on the mock up. That way you're not wholeheartedly stealing another design, but interpreting the brief. Usually it'll be different enough to keep your reputation & pride intact!
