Hooray! The first private spacecraft has worked!

This was the final shakedown flight.

They need to do it twice more, within a month of each over, and carrying 2 passengers in addition to the pilot.  Oh and by the end-of-year.

Still, damn fine news... ;)

I was talking about this at the weekend, and as my friend pointed out to me, isn't it great that private enterprise in the US has got futher into space than our government has ever managed.

Though I seem to rememeber a future shock from many years ago with a British astronaut building a ship in his back yard.

Its not real space unless you go orbital, IMHO.

2 passengers or ballast equal to the weight of 2 people.

Which is cheating in my opinion - ballast doesn't wriggle as much as real people...
