Books & Comics / Comixology Star Wars Sale
« on: 02 May, 2021, 09:53:05 AM »
There are some right bargains to be had, and for 2000ad completists lots of places to find some favourite artists -

Dark Empire 79p features Jim Baikie and Cam Kennedy

Boba Fett Death Lies and Treachery art by Cam Kennedy 79p!

Boba Fett Enemy of the Empire with art by Ian Gibson

Star Wars Vader's Quest art by Dave Gibbons 79p

There may be more, but my star wars/writer/artists of 2000ad cross-over knowledge is not good, so if you can spot anything else please add them here!

Suspect anyone willing to pay big money on a complete set has already collected a good chunk - or it'll go to a shop/dealer that can will it in chunks anyway, but happy to link this on twitter if you like, Kev.

Creative Common / TH Comics Presents: FLY!
« on: 05 April, 2021, 11:37:25 AM »

My 12 year old son has written and drawn a complete graphic novel called FLY - from his blurb (he wrote the blurb)

Finn is a teenager who works at a trash job in a trashy home but little did he know his life would take a turn for the worst when a speeding car runs him over and he ends up in hell. Since he didn’t live a good life he was turned into his least favourite animal, a fly and since he didn’t go into the brain crusher he still has all his memories of being a human! Can Finn convince his friend that it’s really him and can they find a way out of this mess?!

It's a complete 60+ page graphic novel!

Just discovered LeVar Burton Reads - short stories, frequently scifi/fantasy shorts. Then a little chat about them. Pretty good. https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/levar-burton-reads/id1244649384

Jeez talk about your tough question. Just spend some time clicking through covers & content on Barney since I came onboard at 1900 but its hard to find a stretch when there's no duff strip (Skip Tracer I'm looking at you).
My early suggestion would be Prog 2000 chock full of classic droids and some new strips too. More to come…

My memory may be hazy, but I'm pretty sure prog 2000 was Andy's big achievement. (Andy wasn't editor for long, but it was around that moment in time)

Mm. PJ’s art worked perfectly on that strip. A real pity he won’t be on it again. (Nothing against Cornwell here, note; it’s just when something works, it’s a shame the comic can’t—for whatever reason—stick with that.)

Dept K was popular enough to merit a second series, sadly I had a bunch of other commitments (including Chimpsky!). Looking forward to reading it with Dan on art!

From the era where Quality Comics entirely dispensed with quality as far as its covers went.

I don't know for sure, but one of "qualities" other habits was to weirdly uncomfortably the interior art to fit the dimensions of a US comic page, so it's likely the interior had also dispensed with any quality too.
