Quote from: scrotnig on 15 June, 2023, 02:24:17 PMI did like Grange Hill, and also The Famous Five and Secret Seven!

I was also a big fan of Hardy Boys and please do not mention the following to my school buddies: I enjoyed Nancy Drew as well
I definitely did not read "The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Meet Dracula".

Nope. Never.

I don't even know what it is.

I preferred adult characters too, but I'm not sure I gave it any conscious thought. It was more a case of how good the story was.

I did like Grange Hill, and also The Famous Five and Secret Seven!

It was just "is this a good story?", if it was then I enjoyed it, and the age of the characters didn't seem to matter.

Obviously I am likely an outlier, and even if not, it being common then doesn't mean it's common now. I don't have children and wouldn't haven't a clue what motivates younger audiences today.

I think part of the problem is that, for us old farts, Lowborn High doesn't really work. I keep reading that it's very popular with the target audience though. I don't mind it but the Harry Potter riffs are too obvious for me, plus of late it's just been too long. I'd rather see it half the length and have a different strip as well. It's not as if it does anything epic with the massive length to be honest.

This Cadet Dredd was good. As has been stated, it works well when the strip plays the two Dredds off against each other, and I always do enjoy the foreshadowing elements. This one worked well.

Future Shock was...ok. They are rarely more than that for me, even in the main Prog.

I'll go against the grain and say I've always quite liked Finder and Keeper. I'm glad it's back and this one does what it needs to do well. It's not really aimed at me but I can see its appeal and it's a fun read.

Can I just add a word of praise for "Next Slice Please" in The Out?

Made me laugh far more than it should have done.

Dan Cornwell is a great artist and, although the styles are not the same, as soon as I read he had completed Spector it struck me as being an ideal choice.

I can't explain why. I think it's as simple as I like his work in similar ways to how I like Carlos's.

Thanks. If I'm honest I don't really even care about getting money for them. If I can't get rid of them they'll have to go to the tip.  I will look to see if they can bundled but it is a lot of time that I don't really have with a house move looming.

It would hurt a bit to chuck them away.

You are right though, the few comic buyer websites I've seen all specifically exclude 2000ad and a few others. Clearly no money in most of them.

Thanks...didn't know that was permitted...is there a preferred way to go about that? Keen not to make a mess of things!

Well issue with eBay is that I've realistically got to go through them all so I know the prog numbers etc, which is going to be a massive task that is unlikely to be worth the financial return as I'd be surprised if there's more than £50 in this.

Comics shops are a possibility I guess...I've emailed one that's in the same county as me (Leicestershire) just now to see what they think. I don't think there are any physical shops in striking distance.

I've got loads of 2000ADs and Megazines dating back from (at a guess) around mid 2000s.

Sadly they are not in any order categorised and all have been read bar some of the Megs which are still bagged.

What's the current view on getting rid of things like this? I'm not really after money, it's just that I am moving house soon and they will have to go to the tip, which feels wrong. Charity shops don't want to know.

Any thoughts on the best way forward, or is it the tip?

Loved Rogue Trooper. Probably as much for nostalgia, but it captures the original perfectly. Art especially.

Also like the Thargnote casually referring to profs from before the dawn of time like it's no big deal.

Best thing in the Prog for me, which is certainly a high bar this week.

When viewing on a small screen, those three links at the top are still not clickable. They are present but they are not actually links.

Avatars show if the screen is over a certain width, that will be by design.

It's better if you tilt the phone to landscape but still not right. It's because it needs to collapse into a "hamburger menu" below a certain screen width.

If your screen is wide enough to accommodate the width of the navbar then it will look ok.

Put simply someone added the standard 2000AD navbar to the new forum style but that navbar isn't a responsive design so it doesn't work on small screens. It suggests it hasn't been properly tested with a mobile phone. Not trying to criticise, just pointing it how it most likely got like this.

The navigation bar (Shop, Podcasts, etc) isn't "Responsive" like the rest of the style, so on a mobile phone it runs off the screen making navigation and viewing very difficult.

I now have everything, including 2313 which I wasn't expecting just yet.
