Amazon.co.uk has an interesting link for "Yesterday's Tomorrows," a hardcover collection of several stories drawn by Rian Hughes.  These include "The Science Service" and "Raymond Chandler's Goldfish," along with "Dare," which appeared in Revolver and in Crisis, and most surprisingly "Really & Truly," part of the 2000 AD Summer Offensive in 1993.

And here I was hoping for Rebellion to do a "Complete Rian Hughes" collection of their own...

I, Cosh

And I was so impressed with Sly's super-buffed 60 year old body last month.

I can't really remember Really and Truly..

I spoke to Rian a while back, so I knew this was on the cards, although I didn't realise the form it would take. (He seemed to suggest a Dare reprint and then an "everything else" book.)

Still, looking forward to a book with decent repro of DareĆ¢??Rian noted that it's going to look a lot better than the old edition from Fleetway.

Nice work. Hughes has been overshadowed, IMO, by some of the silliest parts of the Summer Offensive.

I quite liked Really and Truly, as a good-looking throwaway thing, and I always liked Hughes' work.

I'll be buying this for the collected Dare, which was top stuff, I say.

I remember reading an interview with Grant Morrison in which he said that, two-thirds of the way through scripting 'Dare', he realized how he could have written it in a more interesting way.

Has he ever said how?
Not sure if pervert or cheesecake expert.

Art

Really and Truly waqs ace, and quite unfairly picked on, presumably because it wasn't a story about over-muscled men waving bloody sticks with boits of gore dripping from them in a muddy faux-bisley style.

EDITED: I know I know this is a soft cover of a book that did indeed come out three years ago... I hang my librarian head in shame and stand in the stupid corner. Now read on...

Well this is an interesting necropost as it would appear that this is finally coming. Image have solicited this for release on 3rd November.

Now no excuses we've had 3 years to save up for it after all!

Um... I have this. I had it for more than a year, then took it to a signing and Rian drew Dare in it.

Or is that listing for a softcover, or a new edition?

Damnit King Trout you got there before my embarrassed edit hit the top of my post. I'm still hanging my head (which is making typing very hard I have to say)

EDIT: And double dman what were those spoiler tags about rather than quotes. Have I been drinking in the office without realising????

 :D

By the way, get the hardback. It's gorgeous!

Dunk!

For those who live near Birmingham Nostalgia and Comics has three copies of the hardback slipcased version upstairs in their sale section.

I brought the non-slipcase version so am gutted to see these beauties for far less then i paid initially.
