General / Alan Grant@Lochthorn Library
13 February, 2005, 06:43:54 PM
Friend told me Alan Grant was going to be at Lochthorn Library in Dumfries on 19th Feb 2-4pm, but she didn't mention what he was actually doing. Anyone know what it's gonna be?

General / Post-related trauma
31 December, 2004, 07:26:32 PM
Very stressful morning...had to get up early to go down to the cash line so I could leave my rent cash out. Anyway, at the cashline I see a postman wandering by, leafing through people's mail, reading all the leaflets and adverts. As I'm using the cashline I notice he's dropped a large envelope, kicked it a couple of feet and is now standing on it reading something. After a moment of this he picks it up, folds it in half and goes into my close. A dull story I know, but upon arriving back at my flat a moment later that self same envelope was sitting on my doorstep containing my battered, folded and torn extreme edition. Is this kind of flagrant abuse of mail common?!? Anyone know if complaining helps? I mean I don't expect my mail to be in pristine condition but I can't let this kind of behaviour slide. Thankyou for indulging me, had to get that off my chest and no-one at work seems to understand the frustration of a busted comic...

General / Junk shop findings
17 November, 2004, 10:11:26 PM
Was browsing through a random junk shop the other day and found a 2000AD badge which was a cover mounted free gift years and years ago. Was a very nice find as my old one had been broken or lost, anyone ever found something really awesomely amazing in a second hand shop/junk shop/car boot sale? Not that the badge was really awesomely amazing but I'm hopeing there's better stories out there!

Just a little self congratulatory post because I just read the letters page and I was on there. Strange how something so simple can make a geek like me so happy. Free audio adventure! Yay!!!!

General / Troll 2, greatest movie ever made
06 November, 2004, 05:30:21 PM
Has anyone seen this!?? I loved the first one as a kid so was desperate to see this sequel and it is honestly one of the most incredible things I think I've ever seen. If you haven't had the Troll 2 experience then really you should, it's a sight to behold.

General / music fans?
29 October, 2004, 10:10:30 PM
Sorry to come on just to plug something, but my band Paige are playing an A&R showcase at the Garage, Glasgow tomorrow night (sat 30th) so if anyone's in the area, likes live music (and is at a loss for something to do with your saturday night) then please come along. We've never played there before so the more the merrier. There's 4 bands on and it starts at 7pm, although don't know yet where we are in the running order. Should be good fun. Again sorry for the plug but it's quite a big club and I've just had a terrible vision of no-one turning up so doing some panicked self promotion! If you want to check the music out first you can find it on the site. Cheers.

General / The Punisher
07 October, 2004, 12:32:43 AM
Don't usually start threads due to technofear but no-one seems to have mentioned The Punisher movie. Was just curious as to what people made of it. Personally I loved it, thought Tom Jane was perfect and once he was in punisher mode it was like the comic come to life.Just wondered if anyone else enjoyed it as much as me, or if other comics fans hated it, that sort of thing.

General / Shaun Of The Dead Frazer Irving thingamy
08 September, 2004, 05:00:41 AM
Anyone else bought Shaun Of The Dead on dvd? Got mine yesterday and it came complete with a Frazer Irving poster backed with another mini comic by him and Simon Pegg! Yay, not only a great film but still helping spread the 2000AD name. Thought it would be nice to see Pegg writing some more stuff for 2000AD, think that would work out just lurvly. Any opinions on that? Never started a thread before, fairly frightened by it.

General / Avatar?
12 August, 2004, 11:48:03 PM
I may be displaying my stupidity here, but I noticed everyone else here has an avatar that appears beside their posts, but I can't find anything on the site to let me set one up! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

General / Metro Dredd and FFAF poster mag
12 June, 2004, 05:36:04 PM
Dunno if anyone's posted about this cos I'm new and all those threads look too daunting to look through right now!Just wondered what everyone's take on the Metro Dredd stories and the FFAF poster mag was.I know it's a great idea in theory because anything that gets the 2000AD name around can't be a bad thing but the storys are so cheesy and brainless that it might do more harm than good.I've spent years defending comics to friends who reckon it's all aimed at the lowest common denominator, with my main defence being that they haven't read any of the good stuff ie.2000AD etc.Now that argument doesn't work because they just come back with the fact that they read it in the Metro or Rock Sound and it was dumb.Thing is I have to agree with them because I know that if my only experience of comics was the funeral for a friend strip then I sure as hell wouldn't come back for more. It's a shame too because I reckon 2000AD and the megazine are better than they've ever been.Again I'm new so apologise if this has all been talked about in a previous thread!
