Hi, I live in France but am coming to Belfast from 14-18 June. I have a few hundred duplicates in my 2000AD collection and I have room to bring maybe 100 or 200 progs with me. If you are interested in filling some gaps in your collection and avoiding postage charges let me know!

List of available progs below, I am selling them for £1 each (or £5 for progs with a free gift attached). I'm OK with breaking complete runs.

Here is the list (F or VF condition except where noted, ask me if you need to know the condition of a specific prog):

General / Cameos in early progs
03 April, 2017, 09:49:15 PM
So I started reading 2000AD from prog 1... in Invasion, we have cameos of Prince Charles (King Charles in the story), newscaster Angela Rippon and--according to Pat Mills--Margaret Thatcher being executed on the steps of St. Paul's Cathedral (though it doesn't look much like her and the character is identified as Lady Shirley Brown).

In prog 2, "members of parliament are strung up from the lamp-posts". Was the character in that frame a real MP from 1977?

Are there other cameos by real-life people in the first year or so of 2000AD?

Progs in the range 100-1526 For Sale

Having completed my collection of the first 1,500 or so progs, I'm selling off my doubles!

I have multiple spare copies of some progs, including issues with free gifts. I am happy to break up the collection. I'd prefer to sell in batches of 100 or so but I don't mind if you want to cherry-pick the progs you want.

Condition

All are at least F condition (with a few exceptions noted below).

Many are VF, many have no newsagents marks.

I don't have time to grade each prog but feel free to ask if you are after a particular issue.

Cost

Nominally £1 each, £5 for progs with a free gift attached. Plus postage at cost (see caveat below). Feel free to make me an offer, particularly if you want to buy the whole collection or for bulk buying of progs >500.

Caveat: I live in France, so postage costs are going to be higher than in the UK. To give you an idea, a 10 Kg box costs €35 with La Poste (estimate other weights online at https://boutique.laposte.fr/affranchissement-a-domicile/colissimo-en-ligne/tarifs). I can give you a firm postage quote before you commit, or feel free to arrange collection with your own choice of courier.

I do travel to the UK from time to time, mostly London and Belfast, so if you want to save on postage and don't mind waiting a few months that might be another option.

List of Progs

100-199
200-299 (208,213,219 in poor condition)
300-399
400-499
500-599
600-699
700-799 (773 in poor condition)
800-806,833,877,898-899
902-905,907-912,914-919,922-934,936-939,941-966,968-972,974-976 (900s generally in G condition)

General / In Orbit Every Monday
27 February, 2017, 10:48:12 PM
Yesterday I decided to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Prog 1 by posting my ramblings on Diaspora* under the tag #inorbiteverymonday:

I'm going to try to post once a week on the 40th anniversary of each prog... not sure how far I'll get, but we'll see...

The Guardian are looking for 2000AD-related contributions:

2000AD, the home of Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog and venerable editor Tharg the Mighty, has turned 40, and to celebrate, we want to hear how the comic shaped your life, see your collections of comics or other assorted 2000AD-related paraphernalia.

In my collection I have a copy of prog 189 with a comp slip fixed to it with a paperclip. I don't know what the story is behind this. The comp slip says:

ipc magazines
with compliments

Tharg (signed in green felt-tip pen)

Then the address at King's Reach Tower

Is this worth anything (beyond the value of the prog)?

I am selling a number of 2000AD progs which include free gifts:
* Prog 284
* Progs 700-703
* Progs 750-752
* Prog 782

These are all on Ebay, see http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/jubjubjubjub

The Prog 750-752 lot includes Tharg's Database album and a complete set of 96 ID cards.

I will be at the 40th Anniversary next weekend, and the auctions are all on a 5-day listing, so if you like, you can choose Local Collection and arrange to meet me at the festival.

Having just completed my collection up to around prog 1500 (wow!) I have a lot of duplicates that I would like to sell. I will be in London for the 40th anniversary event in February, so if you will be there and there is something you want, let me know: I can bring it and you save the postage.

Otherwise, I can post, but as I live in France it's not very economical to post individual progs. If you want to buy a box full (which I think is around ~170 progs) it's not too bad, I think around £20 to post to the UK.

Condition for these are almost all Fine or Very Fine. In particular I have many comics up to issue 200 which are VF with no newsagents marks and barely any yellowing. Most of the later ones >200 have newsagents marks. If you let me know what you want I can send more detailed notes and photos. I'm going to sell here first and anything that doesn't sell I'll put on Ebay later.

For some progs, I have multiple copies which may be in varying condition. For some progs I have extra copies of the free gifts (but selfishly I am keeping the best condition ones for myself :)

Here's a list of what I've got:

General / My review of 2000AD starting from Prog 1
05 January, 2017, 09:55:21 PM
Well, I'm not sure how far I will get, but in honour of the 40th anniversary I have decided to start blogging about 2000AD from Prog 1 onwards.

I have just succeeded in completing my collection from progs 1-1500 so this gives me an excuse to read all of them, in order. I hope to finish sometime within the next 40 years.

So if you want to read my ramblings, I am posting them on Diaspora*. The first post is here (about Invasion in Prog 1):

My future posts will all be tagged as #2000ad, you can follow along here:

Welcome to the board / Borag Thungg

I have been reading 2000AD since prog 1, and if there is one message I could send to myself as a child, it would be to preserve all my progs forever in polybags. But I didn't do that, and I suppose my mother just threw them out when I left them on the living room floor. So I have been painstakingly rebuilding my collection for the last couple of years.

I live in France but will be back in the UK for the 40th Anniversary. Yay!
