Walking Dead: The Governor Special #1, I know it's only a few pages of new content but I'm a sucker for more Walking Dead. It was a helluva long wait for Cyberforce #3 (last was December?) I think I'm going to have re-read the first two to remember what's going on here.

For some reason Amazon has had BATMAN HC THE NIGHT OF THE OWLS as 26th Feb but seeing as I've just got my despatch email then it looks like I'm getting it this week too.

Also Batman #17 this week; CAN NOT WAIT. I can't believe DC have put their Arrow ad banner on the front of this cover, of all comics this month they couldn't skip this one?! Not like it's important or anything.

NEW COMICS SHIPPING THE WEEK OF 02-20-13

MY DIGITAL PULLS
2000 AD #1820 - Same line-up as the last 8 or 9 weeks. Generally entertaining, but I'm eager for a change up.
DARK HORSE PRESENTS #21 - You know, I haven't read the last issue of this year. I sort of been waiting for a price drop on the digital copy. My comics budget has just been taking a beating lately, and since there's no pressure to buy preordered comics I've sort of been falling behind on a few books.
FABLES #126 - Last issue kicked off a new arc, presenting some very interesting things. I really hope Bigby doesn't bite it (or just exit the narative, as has happened to number of characters over the years) as has been rumored.
JSA: LIBERTY FILES - THE WHISTLING SKULL #3 - Really not sure if these series is doing it for me. Just not as a good as previous Liberty Files outings. Probably because the focus is completely different, and I'm really not sure I care about Whistling Skull or Nigel.
JUDGE DREDD #4 - Ugg. This series is so rubbish. Such a wasted opertunity. Seriously hope readers don't judge the real deal by this poorly ploted/paced dreck.
LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #17 - I was disapointed to find out Giffen will only be on board for two whole issues. What a let down. Last issues's election of Phantom Girl to Legion Leader was a welcome surprise however. Legion fans did right this election in choosing a legit interesting choice.
NOVA #1 - I have just enough love of Marvel Cosmic to try this. But my distrust of Jeff Loeb (and his cosmic partner in crime Brian Micheal Bendis) makes me quite leery about it. Probably will wait for a price drop and/or rave reviews.
NUMBER 13 #3 - Another title I'm a month behind on. If for no other reason then I found the first issue to be weaker then the previous material that ran in Dark Horse Presents.
SAGA #10 - Its usually at this point in a run of a Vaughn title that I start to think about dropping it. It happened with Y the Last Man, it happened with Ex Machina. But its not happening here. This book is on FIRE and doesn't seem to be letting up. I knew I'd find a BKV title I'd like someday.
WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP #57 - Oh One-Punch Man how do I love you, let me count the ways. Slick art? Check. Great monster design? Check. A protagonist you can root for? Check. Amazing action? Check. Amazing humor? Check.

Wow busy week, I've got stuff on pull that I couldn't remember ordering including last issue of HELLBLAZER (RIP) which is probably mandatory reading to see how old Constantine goes out.

Grant Morrison's HAPPY mini-series ends this week with #4; and though it's hardly groundbreaking material (it would of been better had it been extra issue or two to flesh the story out) if you haven't picked any of them up I'd recommend the TPB if found cheap.

I have a bunch of things that I'll be abandoning after this week due to one thing or another; Nightwing #17 and Red Hood #17 because of their DOTF tie-in status (with it both are comic book fluff of the most disposable kind). I think JUDGE DREDD #4 will the be last issue I buy too, I just wanted to see what IDW did with the character and, as noted umpteen times here, it's nothing ground breaking; leave that to the forthcoming Year One I guess. I think I'm jumping off INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK #4, MORBIUS LIVING VAMPIRE #2, SAVAGE WOLVERINE #2 purely because the paper [quality] Marvel continue to use is depressing me and the whole £7 per TPB cost is too much of an incentive to stop, I'll continue on with SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #4, because y'know it's Spider-Man.

Yeah some issues have been insanely close together with the next issue following the week after.
It's an interesting take, something that I personally think was needed as you can only tell the same kind of Spider-Man stories for so long, I'm always up for shaking the status-quo of an old series (Amazing Spider-Man #1 was '63 - how many of the same recycled storylines has Spidey seen I wonder!).

I think Dan Slott does a lot of good and the way that [spoiler]Parker [/spoiler]turned up in [spoiler]spirit form[/spoiler] was a novel way of lessening the impact for some of the readers that weren't overly chuffed with the change but I think he was brought in way too early, I mean [spoiler]Parker [/spoiler]shows up at the end of #1! Slott could have at least got through a single story arc before having [spoiler]him [/spoiler]turn up like that, it would of increased the impact a lot had he waited half a dozen issues which is barely a matter of weeks if Marvel keep banging them out this quick.

With that said it's hard to deny how interesting it is to see what someone as cold and calculated as [spoiler]Ock[/spoiler] acts with the 'power and responsibilty' of Spider-Man. The way that [spoiler]Ock [/spoiler]didn't see his relationship with [spoiler]MJ [/spoiler]as logical (it isn't) so decided that the rational outcome was to end it (thus doing what [spoiler]Parker [/spoiler]never could). The whole spider-signal and JJJ scene was glorius (a test!) / Spidey punching out Wolverine in Avenging Spider-Man #16 - stuff like that makes it worth the price of admission.

Dare I ask if you are pro-Superior?

I'm actually 'Pro' Superior Spider-Man (safe in the knowledge that the status quo will be reinstated sooner than you can say "imminent box-office Dollars"), it's an interesting idea.

I've been an on-off Spidey reader for a few decades, when its good, it's really good ('Kravens Last Hunt' etc), when its bad, it's nausea inducing (Norman Osborn resurrection, Clone Saga, 'One More Day', etc etc).

The last arc I picked up was 'Big Tme' (issue 650 I think), which I liked (but didnt like enough to continue reading after the first story ended).
I have to admit, I was intrigued by the Superior Spider-Man concept, and picked up issues 698-700 on an impulse buying whim. They were actually pretty good.
I knew Marvel were planing on making Superior a bi-monthly book, which is the main thing that put me off. Not surprised they actually made it a 'weekly', the money hungry b@astards!

Interesting to hear your comments regarding Peter's immediate reappearance in the book, and I agree that they should have had more restraint in revealing his presence so soon.
I'll pick this up either via Comixology sale or trade- reviews and incidental anecdotes are indicating that it's worth reading.

To be fair (and far be it from me to defend Marvel) wasn't Amazing bi-weekly anyway as a development  of when all the different Spidey titles got merged into a thrice monthly Amazing?

Or have Marvel started to reintroduce new Spidey titles anyway? I'm not at all up to date on my Spidey only really following him these days in the Essential volumes!

Interesting small snapshot of my collecting habits of late in my bag this week.

Some pretty good DC comics, Wonder Woman and Action 17 were a bit steady and plodded along okay enough, just nothing up to either comic at their best. Batman 17  was pretty damned good. As good as all the fuss it has received, well for the answer to that I refer people to Saga (that's a no then).

Elsewhere Planet of the Apes Special 1 was great. Its fantastic to have these characters back, just a shame that the art, while solid, isn't up to the previous standard. Delighted though that there is more to come and they haven't rushed this to a confusion short of what it deserves, well at least so far. Fatale 12 was simply brilliant but the highlight was Battlefields 4 (or The fall and rise of Anna Kharkova 1) which was absolutely Ennis at his best. Simply breath taking.

2000 AD #1821 - Brian Boland returns to 2000 AD for a pretty... average looking cover actually. Boland did covers for Jack of Fables for a while, and I honestly was never really hot on his art. I mean its fine. But I really don't get excited about it like some people.
AMALA'S BLADE #0 - Read this when it ran in Dark Horse Presents. I found it to be really neat with great art and some nice humor.
DOCTOR WHO: PRISONERS OF TIME #2 - I'll probably be picking up issue #1 when the price drops this week, they we'll see if I'm going to keep going.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #0.1 - Still not sure where I am with Marvel NOW cosmic titles. On one hand I like the characters. On the other hand Brian Michael Bendis.
NEMO: HEART OF ICE HC - New LOEG OGN. Hot damn. I don't know if it will be day and date digial though, might have to wait for a soft cover release for that. But here's hoping.
PROPHET #34 - Its Prophet. Its still great.

Double dose of dark this week with

BATMAN INCORPORATED #8 Grant Morrison brings the sad
INJUSTICE GODS AMONG US #2 Basically a dark version of Marvel's "What if", I hope that this continues on to a ongoing title, brilliant stuff. Never heard of [writer] Tom Taylor before but he's on my radar now.

Well what a great bunch of comics... almost. Batman Inc. 8 was only pretty good. After all the fuss the most of the comic felt like padding for the oh so spoiled ending. Well a lovely little moment between Damien and Dick aside, that was quite brilliant. The Massive 9 was possibly the weakest of the series so far, in almost complete contrast to whats gone before this issue felt pretty rushed, still even a weak issue of The Massive is a pretty fine comic and there was one quick shocking surprise (great to be surprised by a comic these days!)

In contrast IT Girl 7 was probably the best so far, bloody loved it, such great fun. Likewise FF 4 was the best so far, it was bloody great. This is the only Marvel book I get in floppies these days and I think part of that is it doesn't feel like a Marvel book... unless Marvel books have changed in the few years I've been away? DD certainly has... I wonder...

Rocketeer: Hollywood Horror 1 was a bloody magnificent opening, and would surely have been the best of the bunch, even in this strong field EXCEPT it came up against another sublime issue of Jonah Hex 17 (I mean All Star...) quite brilliant, well the main story, wasn't so fussed by the Stormwatch back up, well if I could be bothered to count it it'd rub the book of its top spot, but the main story deserves better it was quite divine.

Arrggggghhh....stupid social media hype has meant I've missed out on my first issue of Morrison's Batman run! 
Have been able to procure a 'variant' cover for next week from my LCS, more than double the price though.
