Without going into spoilers (I follow it via trades) how's Walking Dead?

There's a fair bit of deja vu-again, there's a whole govenor/new settlement thing and threats to the few remaining orginals that all seems, well deja vu-again

With the addition of a tiger I hear  :o

I'll be down the dog pound next week, guilt free now...

Two nice wee puppies for your consideration;

Joe Casey's 'Sex'
Kieron Gillen's 'Über'

Both of which I'm tickling behind the ears on a regular basis... this metaphor has gone too far now hasn't it!

Nice neat little haul this trip to my LCS.

Batman 20 was an okay end, to an okay two parter. Not the best, but lets see how this bold new retelling of Bats origin goes. I really do hope its as innovative as Snyder is saying it is 'cos really, do we need another 12 issues (or whatever) of Batman origin retread. Still this series continues to surprise me, it wasn't even on my original list of nu52 to get and now its one of the last 5 standing. Wonder Woman 20 was just plain great. The story is a great sprawling epic, more akin to a Vertigo title than standard DC fare. Still not convinced its a great Wonder Woman comic, but what the heck, it is a great comic, I can just ignore the Wonder Womanness of it when I need to. I have enough good WW comics, so all good with me.

FF 7 was brilliant BUT BUT BUT, do I really need to us AR to find out what actually happened to Blastaar. That's bad form that is. Uber 1 keeps the comic in the hunt for a regular slot, but its not in the bag by any stretch. Its good, not great, but I do wonder how much that might be the art sending me off target? Speaking of art not quite being up to scratch IT Girl 10 is let down on that front a little, great story though, will miss this one. Two endings Battlefields ends just beautifully. Rocketeer Hollywood Horror 4 ends nicely, but does that thing of wrapping up the main plot pretty early and spending half the issue sorting out sub plots, which always bugs me a little. Affects the balance of the piece for me. Pick of the bunch this week (2 weeks) is Fatale 14 now that's how to tell a one off story that serves the main story nicely. If I was a newbie to this series I really think that would set me up nicely. Wonderful stuff.

Mardroid

Having seen the new Star Trek film, I was curious about any comic lead ins like they did with the other. So I checked Comixology and had there it was. A four issue series at a very reasonable price. (The title wasn't exactly original though: Countdown to Darkness.

Anyway, I've yet to read it but in terms of quantity it's value for money.

Apart from that, and The Prog and Meg, I continue to get Animal Man, Swamp Thing and All Star Western from Comixology a month behind to take advantage of the price drop. Generally okay. Nice to start new chapters in the earlier two. And curious they've got Swamp Thing back to the
growing powers
of Alan Moore's run. And advantage of not just
being a wrapping for a human body
I guess, but it does feel a bit repetitive.

I also just finished Case Files 8. Very enjoyable it was too. One of the stories - the one with the decomposing deceased Granny and an
innovative use of robotics. You're a sick sick man Dredd!
- had me laughing out loud.

Davek

I was a little disappointed with Fatale 14; I was looking forward to the WWII setting but it felt a bit like 'Fatale' by numbers for the first time. Maybe this story is starting to get padded out a little too much?

And Prophet - this issue was baffling on first read!

Richard Corben's 'House of Usher' was brilliant though - everything I hoped my second foray into Corben territory would be. Art and colouring felt like a throwback to comics of my youth. Then I imagined a Slaine one shot by Corben - could be amazing!

Funny the way that works, I defo see what you mean, it certainly ticked all the boxes (hence my comment about good for a newbie) but I think it worked as a really nice distillation, which in an ongoing monthly like this, read month to month rather than in trade really serves the series well, while being a great story in its own right.

I picked up Starr the Slayer by him and Daniel Way recently, if you are looking for a Corben barbarian fix. It's kind of a fantasy/comedy mix, nothing that is going to change the comics world but it was fun, I liked it.

NEW COMICS SHIPPING THE WEEK OF 05-22-13

MY DIGITAL PULLS
2000 AD #1833 - New Judge Anderson strip starts here, and in the past I've been a bit critical of these Alan Grant 'Early Years' stories as they feel a bit light and irrelevant. But this one starts off pretty dark. Also art by Carlos Ezquerra. So you can't fault that.
DARK HORSE PRESENTS #24 - I can't believe its been 2 years since I started reading DHP. Second year hasn't been nearly as memorable as Year One, but the book still offers up some interesting things worth reading.
WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP #25 - Not to bring up One Punch Man once again, but artist Yusuke Murata does some absolutely astonishing work this week. Its nearly all splash pages, and it almost reads like Animation. Kind of a fast read, but its gobsmackingly awesome.

On the surface it looks like a bit of a light week. But since they're all Anthologies... I'm actually rolling in the comics this week.

That pull list is dwindling faster than the average board member's hair follicle count Adventurer!
Not much for meself either...there's something making me stick with Superior Spider-Man, so it'll be that & Tooth for me this week.

Snyders 'The Wake' is looking like a promising read next Wednesday.

The Adventurer

Nah. There were just 5 Wednesdays this month, so the schedules just got stretched out. Though my current pull list isn't as healthy as it used to be... lets see...

47 Ronin (Mini)
Dark Horse Presents
Star Wars
Legion of Super-Heroes (Cancelled)
Fables
Fairest
Savage Dragon
Invincible
Invincible Universe
Saga
Prophet
East of West
Manhattan Projects
Think Tank
The Walking Dead (might drop soon)
Battlestar Galactica (not sure if this is a mini or not)
The Hypernaturals (mini concluding next issue)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic Universe
Mega Man
2000 AD
Judge Dredd Megazine
Weekly Shonen Jump

So 17 ongoing monthlies, 2 ongoing weeklies, 4 Minis or soon-to-be cancelled monthlies. So 23 at the moment, soon to be under 20.

I was thinking about checking out The Wake, based entirely on the strength of Sean Murphy.

THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK

Colin YNWA

There's a great point to be illustrated by comparing our pull lists (and this isn't just an excuse to whip mine out in public, as I so like to do). Here's mine.

ANIMAL MAN
BATMAN
WONDER WOMAN
ALL-STAR WESTERN
BATMAN INC. (Ending)

FF
SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN (starts July)

MUD MAN
FATALE
IT GIRL AND THE ATOMICS (ending)
PLANET OF THE APES: CATACLYSM (ending, Damn... oh I'll not start again!)
THE MASSIVE
NOWHERE MEN
SEX
BLACK BEETLE (I believe this is meant to become an ongoing after the mini?)
EAST OF WEST
UBER
THE VICTORIES
LAZARUS (starts July)
BOUNCE (On a taster as I'm enjoying Sex so much)
ROCKETEER - mini's
SIX GUN GORILLA

2000ad

I think there's a couple of mini's I've managed to leave off, but that's about it. Anyway when the Summer shakes itself out that'll leave me with 17 ongoing, 2000ad and 2 mini's (Though Rocketeer is almost an ongoing as there always seems to be one on the go, or just around the corner I'm glad to say). Oh and I get Daredevil in trade (well hardcover now they are so cheap).

Anyway the point I think this illustrates is compare The Adventurer's and my lists. We're both 2000ad fans, big fans given we hang out here, I can safely say for myself its my favourite comic full stop (its actually my favourite piece of media entertainment in any medium.) BUT our pull lists are utterly different, with only one piece of common ground, East of West and I have to say for me that's still on 'trial'. Its speaks of the diversity of 2000ad that two people, with such apparently diverse comics tastes, converge at 2000ad. I bet that you all got yours out to compare there'd be a vast variety of stuff there to.

Evidence for a theory I have started to formulate (a very dodgy one!) that 2000ad is the nexus for all comics!

Link Prime

Ok Adventurer, I retract that statement! And do I detect a slight disdain for Scott Snyder in your comment on 'The wake'...?

@ Colin....an interesting observation, and one I had pondered a few times too.
I find very often that the only thing 2000AD readers have in common (RE comic reading tastes) is 2000AD itself.

I'll throw my current (and lowest ever) pull list into the mix too;

2000AD
Judge Dredd Megazine
Locke & Key (finishing soon)
Transformers Regeneration One
Prophet
The Unwritten (finishing soon)
Batman
Batman Inc (finishing soon)
Saga
X-Factor (until PAD finishes writing it)
Superior Spider-Man (cant help myself)
Sex
Uber
Judge Dredd: Year One (Mini)

Excluding the Prog itself, that's 4 I have in common with you, and only 3 with Adventurer.
Your theory holds.

Corben's Starr the Slayer looks good.  I see he did a volume of Conan as well - and I'm planning to get the Lovecraft stories he did.

My pull list (much shorter than those put up so far):

Manhattan Projects
Prophet
Fatale
The Fall of the House of Usher (2 part)
Secret (due to re-start soon I think)
East of West
Simpsons one shots (approx quarterly)
Adventure Time
My Little Pony (Friendship is Magic)
Phoenix (last 3 for the kids)

Phew....

I still think that it must be an urban legend that grown men are fanatically following the new run of 'My Little Pony'.
Mustn't it...?  :-\
