SEQUENTIAL ART
WILL SIMPSON
Tuesday 16th Jan at 8pm

Droichead Arts Centre is proud to present â??Sequential Artâ?, an exhibition by the internationally acclaimed comic book artist Will Simpson. This exhibition covers twenty years of Simpsonâ??s career as a professional comic book illustrator, as well as fine examples of his work as an artist, painter and animator.

The show will include many of the artistâ??s comic book illustrations, which includes legendary characters such as â??Batmanâ?? and â??Judge Dreddâ??. There will also be examples of his paintings, which emphasise his passion for the romantic period in art.

Exhibition continues until February 21st

Buddy

I think this is the show he had in Belfast about a year ago, some nice stuff in it (some duff stuff too).

Watch out for one of my fave pics of Dredd Cornered in an allyway (I think it was a star scan years ago).

I've always thought Will Simpson's art veers wildly from the great to rubbish. Two examples would be...

Great: A Dredd story in a Sci-Fi Special, involving a Pie-in-the-Sky floating restaurant, especially, IIRC, a shot of Dredd from the waist up, pointing into the page.

Poo: Vamps. All of it.
