And you thought the rumours of Zac Efron were bad:

Joaquin Phoenix too old.
QuoteJoaquin Phoenix too old.
That didn't stop them trying to cast Brad Pitt (49) as Kenada (15) a while ago.
Justin Timberlake is in the running too now I believe.
What possible audience are they aiming this film at? It boggles the mind...
I wouldn't be surprised if they'd approached Keanu Reaves too.
It's a simple equation: they make it before someone else does. The rest is semantics as long as a name cast and director is involved.
C'mon, it's the part Clint Eastwood was born to play.

Hehehe... really wish he will be back for one last ever role, Saint of Killers...
No no no - Lance Henrikson as Saint of Killers!!!
I would like to see Hollywood attempt Urotsukidoji - Legend Of The Overfiend, just to see them get round the tentacle sex.

And the Hollywood remake I was born not to watch. EVER.
This is one of the dumbest things ever. If they really have to remake / americanize it, at least use teenagers - there's no shortage of them - and don't call it AKIRA if it's set in New York !
Didn't they make "Dragonball Z" a couple years back ? And it bombed ? Maybe there's hope...

You'd choose Lance Henriksen
over Clint Eastwood??!!?!?
If they ever make a biopic about Lance Henriksen (unlikely, yes) I'd rather see Clint Eastwood play the role of Lance Henriksen than Lance Henriksen himself.
True , they both have the craggy face and gravelly voice I'd assume the Saint has , but I still reckon
Henrikson would pull it off over Eastwood.
Another craggy faced gravelly actor who would make a great Saint of Killers is Stephen McHattie. He was great in A History of Violence and 300, and should have been chosen by Spielberg to play Abe Lincoln over Liam bloody Neeson IMHO.
Actually he'd make a great Lance Henriksen too.
This kind of sums it all up.

Surely this is the ultimate two fingers to Hollywood -
'not only will I not be paying to see your movie at the cinema or buying your product on dvd ,but I won't even be stealing it for free'. This is how much your piece of shit means to me! A friend and I had the exact same conversation about some other piece of shit offering the other week - can't remember which one now. Awesome.

All valid points but from the blog
QuoteWe don't think they feel rage with their feet, or hover when depressed or anything -- we generally assume they have human emotions and human struggles just like everybody else. Chow Yun Fat had a career over here, remember? Lucy Liu? Hell, Ong Bak even did okay in American theaters, and that was a movie about a guy who did feel rage with his feet
Chow Yun Fat is from Hong Kong and Lucy Liu's heritage is from China,

Oh God, I just read that. I can't believe it's true, it's just too awful. Like incredibly unbelievably dreadful. I don't know whether I should feel aggravated or if I should just pity the idiots behind that script.
I had to stop reading it when I got to the script-y bits.
it's painful.
It's awful.
It's upsetting to me.
For the love of DEAR GOD ALMIGHTY, Hollywood, please, BIN THIS MOVIE!!!
My god. Words fail me.
I suppose it will be like the Stallone Dredd film. In name only.

Something that bad will be made,be successful and be hyped as the shape of things to come...
Sweet fapping cheeses. I mean. Feck.
This film is dead to me.
The switch to Manhattan was introduced by 'Ruari Robinson' when he was on-board.
I have this awful feeling it's gonna take a petition to get this film scrapped.
And God knows, I feel that's a worthy cause.
Take more than a petition!

The Stallone Dredd film has more in common with it's source then this sounds like it will.
um...what the fuck is that abomination, doesn't even sound like it would be a good movie even if it wasn't called Akira and shat on the original ideas from a great height.

Yeah, the Stallone Dredd misses a few critical points in the context of setup that is recognisably Judge Dredd, and thus diappoints and torments with thoughts of What Might Have Been. This on the other hand... this...
thing... Words fail me. I'm not even a fan of anime, and I've only seen and read Akira once, but this annoys me something considerable.
