peter: if you're going to do that make sure you wear some good shoes. It should only take you a couple of hours, but if you have loose shoes your feet will be killing you when you get home.

Floyd: it depends what study you read. Apprently the lowest rate of skin cancer in Australia is among life guards at beaches.
Some recent studies have linked sun screen with an increase in skin cancer, one of the chemicals used in most sun screens was found to cause skin cancer. Also an allergic reaction to sun screen is the same as sun burn, which would explain why i only got burnt where i put on sun screen this summer.
So you probably just have to spend moderate amounts of time in the sun, it's best to get a sun tan by slowly exposing yourself to sun during the spring, so when the sun's rays are strongest you are already deeply tanned, as then you will not burn.

General / Re: ...NEW 2000AD LOGO???............
12 December, 2007, 02:35:23 AM
...by the way Jim, if i can call you that, how do you put logos over pictures like in your first example of 2000ad you did? i always have to give everything a black background, bearing in mind i have no computer training...

I'm afraid it's easy, but expensive!

For this trick, all you need a copy of Adobe Creative Studio ... :-(

Here's the free version:
You can do that in MSpaint too. You can open a picture in one instance of the program, open the logo you want in another, or open it in your regular viewing program. select and copy the logo (ctrl+c) go to the instance of MSpaint with the image you want to logo on and paste (ctrl+v). Before moving the logo around look on the left hand side, under all the buttons will be 2 rectangular buttons as you can see bellow. click on the lower one (blue when selected), if the logo has a white background the background will go transparent, if the background is black, right click on the black color button at the bottom, any other color click the corresponding color and the background will turn transparent. It's easiest with BMP or GIF files as they are crisper.

I hope that helps, if you need any more help i can guide you further. :)

the problem for me is how are you meant to type on a touch screen without looking at the keyboard. I tend to type most of my messages onto my phone while looking else where (such as the street i'm walking down)

24 has stopped filming, not sure about the other series, most series stock piled loads of scripts incase the strike happened, so it's mainly soaps and fake news that are on reruns now

Still, one turkey would be pretty easy, but getting in a fight with a whole pack, and you'll be pecked

A single velociraptor might be possible.
I was thinking more like a Brontosaurus. All i'd need to do is run between it's legs, hit it where it counts, then run as fast as i can to avoid it landing ontop of me.
Like elephants it'd peobably shatter it's bones if it were to jump

Sadly a lot of the terrorists, at least the leadership, are very intelligent. If they weren't we'd get a lot less killed and a lot more terrorists setting their backpacks on fire (remember that?).

That depends if you believe the multiregional model or the out of Africa model.
And you cannot really say music styles invented by whites, asians, native americans was invented by blacks, otherwie we'd have to say everyone is black, and that all human invention is of black origin, rather than human origin.

I think 'Fighting Quakers' is probably quite insulting, as they are not a very combative religion.
Though in North Dakota, the University at Grandforks has had the 'Fighting Sioux' as their nickname for 80 years. Their current logo was designed by a American Indian, but a different tribe is complaining, and they only raised their complaints after the University had finished a new ice hockey ring. One tribe blessed the use of the name, the other complained, and it appeared to be because of anti-white racism as they complained about white living in America as well.http://media.2news.tv/images/061112fighting_sioux.jpg">
