Books & Comics / Re: Tales of The League of Extraor...

I've read that "Tales of the Extraordinary Gentlemen" will be only 3 of 4 issues long.... and that in Moore's interview, in the annotated "A Blazing World", that there may not be a confrontation with "le hommes Mysterieux" as it would be too predictable and comic-booky and that if he can't think of a good way of doing it, he won't.

There may also be a stand alone extraordinary Gentlemen release in the meantime.

The 50's league won't be until vol. 4 or 5, Moore has already said this.

Eh, actually the "Alien3" script about the medieval planet of monks was not written by William Gibson -his script was worse-, it was written by Vincent Ward who made "the Navigator" and is probably the best written "Alien" story.

Raimi has said he has not decided if he will make Harry
Osborne the next Green Goblin -it's a possibility and a predictable one-, he says he can go either way with it and is still undecided. But he has definitely said there is to be no VENOM because he doesn't like the character.

Does that guy, in the panels above, get to fuck her and then have a beer while polishing his gun?

Yeah, can't say I liked it then or now. The art always looked rubbish and gaudy and the writing was bilge.
I stopped reading 2000AD around this time, only reading Dredd for the Dead Man.

The Seat of Forgetfulness episode in Ulysses 31 is probably the most unsettling of all the eps.

All three volumes of Ulysses 31 are out now

The last episode of D & D was made e.g. they all got home.

In Battle of the Planets a female character, in normal clothes, used to turn up now and again in episodes.
It was actually Zoltar in female form. In the U.S. version they tried to explain it was his sister, which never worked out because when Zolltar was unmaked all his/her beautiful hair tumbled out.

That is the one enduring image I have since I was a kid watching the show, the fact that the bad guy all along, could in fact be a girl.

The edited versions made a big difference to the storlines, I think half of each ep. was nearly cut out. That crappy R2D2 like robot 7 ZARK 7 was created by the Americans and inserted into the show to try and sew up the plot holes and basically getting from A to B in the action and scenes themselves.

The charaters were slightly different too. For instance, the little fella, Key-op, who was portrayed as a stammering idiot in the U.S. version was actually a smart arse kid who could talk properly in the original.

Ulysses 31 is now widely available, all 26 episodes will be spread across 3 DVDs; vols. 1 & 2 are out now. Vol. 3 is out later this month with a box set to follow. I bought the first two at HMV.

The incidental music in this series -not the title music- is top notch stuff.

The design of the series is quite unique too.

Mean & moody.

The original version of Battle of the Planets, Gatchaman, did indeed end and two more series followed -205 eps. in total.

But then again the original Jap version was more violent , had a manic depressive, trans-sexual Haemaphrodite -Zoltar who commits suicide- for a villian and the best character in it -the loner fella- has terminal brain damage, goes on a suicide mission, is tortured, then killed (shot in the head several times).

(All the above mentioned series in the other posts had  proper endings.)

I don't think Steel City is available except maybe in the Czech Republic, if you know ant DVD stores there.

Some of it I can still remember, they definitely had a freezing weapon in it and I don't think it was actually dubbed or subtitled. A narrator described what was happening while you could hear the actors speak in mother tongue.
