Not sure if people have seen but it's back. 27th June in the Masonic Hall in Cardiff. It's been sorely missed since the last one with only the redonculous showmaster one to tide us over (with its crazy queues and little or no comic content)

I see that this has debuted at #1 in the charts. Good to see. I like it when Rebellion does good because its all security for 2000ad :)

Classifieds / Free 2000ads / Megs to a good home
26 March, 2014, 02:01:12 PM
If anyone is looking to kickstart their collection I have a stack of proggage and meggage that needs to go to a good home. Progs are from around 400 - 1400 and megs are from the start to around the end of vol 3. I'm not looking to get rid of them piecemeal but then nor am I looking for money. They were passed on from another boarder but I don't need 2 collections and I'm moving shortly and having to put stuff in storage so I want rid.
If anyone is interested I can look out the exact start / end dates of the runs.

Must be collected from Cardiff.

Books & Comics / help me hivemind - finding a comic
07 January, 2014, 02:05:18 PM
Where that isn't ebay can I find a comic. Unbeknownst to me, a new Elfquest came out in October so I didnt put an order in. Elfquest Final Quest by DC. Guess I took my eye off the ball in the last 15 years or so since the last one. There are copies on ebay but postage is something silly like $20 and it seems a little steep. Where in the UK is likely to keep back issues. I have 2000ad to the door so I'm a bit lost on this sort of thing dagnabbit.

Books & Comics / Marvel's Mightiest Heroes
04 January, 2014, 10:20:07 AM
I see marvel have officially released their second part work. I have collected all the first, with about 4 left to arrive and have enjoyed most of what I read although I still probably have 1/2 the books to get through. I understood the premise of that set though. It was supposed to be the best of Marvel. Defining and standout stories. I can't quite see the point of this set. Will each book be dedicated to an individual character / group then they aren't touched on again. Does this mean with 60 books all sorts of random characters from the archives are going to be turfed out and showcased. I guess my main question is .. is it worth it. I'm 1/2 tempted on the strength of the first set and I wont miss the money as its already been going out for a couple of years on the previous set but I can't really grasp what this set is trying to achieve

Anyone else playing ? It's unashamedly unoriginal but damn good fun and really well polished. Does the same thing every other MMO has done for 10 years but does it so well.

Books & Comics / Hachette Partworks survey & Dredd
27 September, 2013, 02:33:52 PM
Just had a survey through from Hachette partworks who do the Marvel Ultimate Collection deeley
( http://surveys.nsmresearch.co.uk/nsm6608/sn6608.htm ) and one of the questions is would you be interested in other character collections. One of them being Judge Dredd. I assume its a finger in the air, we haven't spoken to any of the copyright holder questions but its interesting to see.

General / Thrill Mail Images
24 October, 2012, 11:40:14 AM
(I'm sure there is a thread this probably belongs upon already but with the lack of working search ...)

Well done to all concerned with the Thrill mail, its good to see a dose of thrill power related news landing regularly in my mailbox. Can whoever is doing it please resize the images properly. Email clients are fickle beasts at best and dont render images the wrong size as well as a browser. This weeks Zaucer of Zilk cover is 912px × 1,418px for an image displayed at, what ? around 180px by 250 ? It's also 1.7mb big. Thats a lot of bandwith to give up if the mail goes out to lots of people. Correctly sized it would be about 30k and look better. (the 2000ad cover is a similar size at 1,018px × 1,325px but at least is only 1/2 a meg big, Rogue Trooper Tales of Nu Earth is an exciting 2,204px × 3,059px)

Yes I know, sorry. It really is a great thing but with less than a minutes extra work per mail it could be so much better and less of a bandwith hog. I'll shut up now.

Books & Comics / ElfQuest - Final Quest
08 October, 2012, 04:21:40 PM
Apparently this has started to be published online at boing boing

http://boingboing.net/2012/09/05/introducing-elfquest.html

New Wendy Pini Elfquest about and I was sitting here in ignorance. It's not good enough. The digital experiment is interesting for a company that went their own way with publishing in the 70s. I suspect I'll have to hold off reading it till its done and then use the work colour laser to print it to read it (assuming it doesnt get a hardcopy. It has too, right?)

I should probably read some of the later stuff again, its been years and I've all but forgotten who was where doing what :S

General / We need those Steenking Badges
06 September, 2012, 11:40:45 AM
just an idle note of curiosity but my facebook friends feed appears to be filling up with people putting Judges badges as their profile. And no my facebook isn't made up just with people from this board. There is a definite groundswell of interest out there. I bet Mr Carroll has noticed a spike in traffic to his Badger! page.

Will there be a new IDW Dredd subforum in SPOILERS ? I appreciate it's a different companies product essentially but there will be a lot of people getting it (if we work out a way of doing so) on here.

Help! / Help me Hivemind - Si Bisley FOD posters
02 August, 2012, 08:52:33 AM
When I was working in RAF St Athan, there used to be FOD posters all around with suitably gruesome accidents happening on them. Pretty sure (99% sure) they were done by Mr Bisley. Anyone else seen them about or has images of them ... or did I imagine it.
