Classifieds / 40th Anniversary Prog, £6
06 March, 2017, 10:28:56 PM
Due to panic-buying from the webshop and then finding stock at my local Forbidden Planet, I've ended up with  a spare copy of the Ezquerra variant. First to PM me can have it at cost - that's £6 including postage (UK only, sorry!)

Need to clear some space, so I've put a few things on eBay:

Megazine Volume 1 & 2 (15 issues)
I already have an offer for these, so they'll be gone by 10pm tomorrow unless somebody hits the Buy It Now button.

Judge Dredd Megazine Volume 2 (13 issues)

Complete Judge Dredd (14 issues)

Meg 342

Underbelly one-shot

A somewhat knackered copy of Prog 1811

Plus Spawn #100 (bought in another life when I thought Spawn was cool), some Samurai Jack DVDs and assorted Warhammer bollocks.

I don't really know what most of these are worth, so don't be put off if the Buy It Now prices seem high - feel free to make me an offer (here or on eBay).

I've listed them as joblots for convenience but I'm happy to split them if you want specific issues.

General / Judge Vegas on Channel 4
17 July, 2015, 11:48:32 PM
Famed squaxx and recent Judge Dredd guest star Johnny Vegas proudly displayed his 2000 AD cameo pages on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown tonight:

Decidedly nonscrot reaction from Sean Lock!

It's repeated on Channel 4 on Sunday, 4 Seven later in the week, or you can watch it on 4od or All 4 or whatever they're calling it these days.

General / Insurrection cover error
31 January, 2015, 04:45:12 PM
This is odd. I got Insurrection for Chrimbo (loved it) and noticed this Photoshop (or similar) artefact on the cover.

Looks like the head was cut out and misaligned when pasted back over the title. This is the second printing; did the first look the same? Does everyone's copy look like this? The picture on the online store looks fine.

Welcome to the board / Is this thing on?
30 October, 2014, 10:28:37 PM
Hello world!

The short version: I came to 2000 AD relatively late in life but I'm enjoying catching up. I've been reading since Prog 2014, I'm slowly making my way through my eBay-bought collection (Prog 250-1400!) and lately I've been seriously considering subscribing.

The long version: Despite being a British comics reader I haven't read a lot of British comics. I picked up a few progs and megs in my late teens (around 2000) but somehow it didn't stick and I gravitated towards Vertigo, manga, and (more recently) indie comics by Dan Clowes, Chris Ware etc.

Anyway, a friend of mine is a former 2000 AD reader with particularly fond memories of ABC Warriors and for his birthday last year I decided to get him some old progs to replace the collection his dad threw out when he left home (Judas!). Figuring out which issues to buy him involved subtle questioning and extensive internet research. While scouring Barney, Dredd Reckoning and Paul Rainey's Prog Slog, I caught the bug - there's something very compelling about 37 years of continuity to immerse yourself in - and found myself buying not only progs 750-759 and 780-791 (Khronicles of Khaos, Button Man) for my pal* but progs 650-700 (The Horned God II, Song of the Surfer, The Dead Man, Necropolis) for myself.

Since then I've expanded my collection to progs 250-1400 and the first 40 or so Megazines, thanks to some some lucky eBay bargains (I managed to win progs 250-500 for £17.50, and that included £12.50 p&p - feel free to hate me). I started buying the prog from my local comic store with Prog 2014, the Megazine from Meg 350, and I'll probably get myself a combi subscription before Tharg puts the price up.

*He was very happy to see his old favourites again, but I haven't managed to get him into the new stuff. I'm giving him America and Origins this year; if that doesn't convince him, nothing will...
