So here we are final week of Round 3 and quality here will set us up well for what's to come. There are some stunning ties here and a proper local derby to really add some flavour - I was so chuffed when this one was drawn as it's a right good tie (you’ll only have to wait until Tuesday…). Round 4 will be coming soon (Monday next week I imagine!) and it's going to start to get super tough… or tougher at least!

Two new favourites in play here, both with only one full series, both with at least one more on the way. So I guess we have an easy metric to help you decide this one. Which of the two are you looking forward to returning the most? Full Tilt Boogie, which struggled to see off Vector 13, is the sort of thrill the prog needs to shake things up and pull the prog into a new age and a new audience. DreadNoughts, who took out the mighty Paul Grist’s Demon Nic could therefore be said to be backward looking, reflecting on past glories, but is far from it feeling absolutely relevant and as current as FTB in the context of the time it's being created. Which one are you happiest to see back?

Curious one this. VCs straddles the ages, being one of the early strips that provided nostalgia for the Prog as it reformed to an early entrant from Rebellion’s time. You can vote for all, either, or whatever aspect and folks did in numbers in an easy victory over Citi-Def. Dandridge is in danger of being a forgotten curio, never quite gripping folks enough to become a long running thrill, but fun while it was here and enjoyed enough to see off Urban Strike and Orlok. Different class of opponent for this one though.

Round 3 heads towards its conclusion and things aren’t getting any easier. It's time to start thinking about how hard Round 4 is gonna be cos lets face it as we near having just 64 thrills left we know they are all (well almost all) gonna be beauties and the tough ties we see this week will be the regular head scratchers in a couple of weeks time. Arh remember how easy Round 2 was!

This is the tough tie to end the week… or is it. I love Fall of Deadworld, but even confusathon ‘Fervant and Lobe’ was able to draw votes off it last round, though the result was clear. So it goes for FoD which does divide opinion. Skizz on the other hand is The Wizard of Northampton’s finest work in 2000ad (come on, come on all you Halo Jones fan - I mean I love Halo Jones but Skizz is SOOOOOoooo good) and I enjoy the Baike stuff that followed. So while it might seem a tough tie will it actually be very one sided?

Tough tie to end the week… I mean not this one the other one today. I mean this one is a shue win for Nick Stone and co who hardly had to draw breath to see off Stalag 666 last round. I’ve still not forgiven Dash Decent for doing for Department K in Round 1’s biggest travesty, but it got an easy draw against Zombie Army last time. That luck ends here?

David has done it again. Hibernia Comics have their latest volume out a deep dive into Battle Action written by our own magnificent David Bishop - once of Tharg's guilded cage. Looks like another triumph and perfectly timed as a campaign piece to the new Special.

You can (and should) buy it here

Doghouse double bill today and the deadly and delightful Durham Red, doubles down on the Top Dogs … appearance… damnit couldn’t think of a ‘d’ word there. It's all her iterations we need to consider here, which makes DR a much trickier thrill to decide about. The thrill only just saw off Return to Armageddon last round. So goes into this against new favourite Feral and Foe, who’ve only had a see off Juliet November, as a slight favourite? Let’s see how that plays out

Well each Round some poor Thrill has to draw the tourney favourite. Last time it was Angel Gang and this time it's Absalom. An immensely popular series, nicely contained and finished now so it makes for a satisfying complete read. As such it was able to relatively easily see off even a great thrill like Atavar. But if we’re honest this tie is more about seeing how well Strontium Dog does against a thrill of this quality as it surely prepares itself for even tougher challenges ahead… or are we heading towards the upset of the century?

Inspectre comes into this Round bruised after a tough tie with Bato Loco last time. It fought its way through only to hit Defoe - who brushed aside Bradley unsurprisingly in the previous round. Can he stay on his feet, or will with tough draw prove too much?

I think it's fair to say Sancho Panzer isn’t one of the stronger thrills in Round 3, so far only having to deal with Venus Bluegenes, a great co-star in some dodgy solo material. So has its luck ended in coming up against a Prog Oner? Or will M.A.C.H.1’s easy racism count against it? It didn’t against Marauder that’s for sure.

Ordinary is a great creator owned tale that to be honest hasn’t been tested before now, meeting Outlaw then Mother Earth. So a tie against Diaboliks is going to be much tougher. To be fair The Diaboliks haven’t exactly had a hard time against Slaughter Bowl and O’Rork, though the former is a great John Smith one might have thought would fare better. A grim omen for Ordinary?

Round 3 does still have glorious oddities like this tie. Tharg vs Ichabod such utterly different thrills and tones which just goes to show the far corners the Galaxies Greatest has stretched into. Tharg the Mighty has form having had to overcome Universal Soldier and Tor Cyan. Mind Ichabod didn’t have it all its own way in a match up with Mechastopheles in Round 2. Here, well I think we have a clear favourite, lets see…

The ties in Week 6 are a bit of a mixed bag.  A couple of very interesting ones that are hard to call mixed in with some very lopsided potential batterings and BOTH versions of Bill Savage making an appearance - but which will survive?

Just like the matchup between Brink and Shako that started Wednesday this one is a real example of how the Prog has developed over the years. Bill Savages second appearance this week, this time in his earlier incarnation, which reached Round 3 by seeing off Joe Black will face an interesting challenge here against modern classic and folk horror wonder that is Thistlebone which was bewitched Tempest last round. Will nostalgia be enough to fuel a prog 1 thrill?

Tough draw this for Numbercruncher, a smashing thrill that has only had to see off Colony Earth and Survivor to get this far, and it made a chore of that latter tie somehow! Halo Jones made short work of Timehouse and is a different level of competition all together and surely one of two or three thrills that stands a realistic chance of taking the tourney as a whole. We’ll see…

The very epitome of the modern thrill against the old school thrill here. Brink absolutely represents the very best of Thrills modern menagerie of might. A transformative thrill that exemplifies all that the Prog can be. It's only seen off Mercy Heights to date, but one suspects, assuming it survives here, it will see of better than that. Shako is all that was crazy fun about the earliest of Tharg’s output. The sort of no holds barred unfiltered, brutal fun that defined and shaped the comic. Its seen off Middenface McNulty, but if it was to see off Brink, well who knows what the thrill could kill?
