Was Randy Stewart based on Frank Begbie's favourite singer Rod Stewart (who once bemoaned the amount of times he woke up and said to himself, 'You and your knob, Stewart')?

Seeing their child born with a knob-for-a-nose, and reealising that this affliction would not cause Randy enough problems at school, his parents decided that in the interests of hygiene, and incase he caught a cold, they would have his nose circumsized.
