This was a staple of my childhood (along with Dr Who) and on watching an old repeat tonight i noticed how Sci-fi it was.  I mean it was sily and jokey (the episode wher they were trapped down in the gullet of an old T-Rx) but quite often had a sci-fi or fantasy element to it, of the top of my head i could name the above episode, the one with the oil and lighthouse, The big kitty one, quite a few i think

So what do you think Sci-fi or not?  and if so what other shows could you now classify as Sci-fi that you didn't really think was as a kid.

Well picked this up a couple of hours ago, started the campagne but not too far into it had to give the Multi Player a go.  Hav'nt played a Halo game since number 2 so quite a bit has changed for me.  Graphics are nice (not exceptional) and the music is typical Halo music.
I rally like the match making system but still haven't had a chance to check it all out or all the game modes yet, only multi player mode I haven't liked so far is the Race.  Its fun playing dress up with youir spartan too

Lets be honest, the art in 2000AD is always good and quite often arsom.  There are too many to mention but many a time i've opened the prog and just had my mind blown (even some of the worst written drek in tooth has been rendered readable by its art, I'm looking at you Inferno and most of Millars tooth output that boy lucked out with some excelent artists).  This has rarely happened when i've read a US comic.  Is this because alot of Tooth art is inked by the penciler (if it is, I might be wrong but there's rarely and Inker credits iin the credits box) and retain more of its true intention or do I totally have the wrong end of the stick.  I have noticed in some cases when you see the pencils and then completed piece they sometimes look quite different. 

More to the point I'm not an artist in any way but i do understand how drawing a comic works (the whole Thunbnail, pencils, ink, colour proccess) but I've got a question for the artists on the board do you feel or  would you feel that someone else inking your work takes away soem of your ownership of it. 

Please also note I'm not putting down inkers either it's all art and as I said at the start of my post I have all teh artistic tallent off a Baboon.

man this is why i hate fucken PC's.  I brought Starcraft 2 yesterday and do you think I can get it to work, I have a near new PC, the game installs i set up my Blizzard Battle.net account (which you have to do even if you only want to play single player) and then when i load the game it gets stuck on the fucken user licence agreement screen.  My mouse just fucken freezes, i cant TAB myself around the menu's or anything all i can do is hit escape and get back to Windows.
I sent an Email to Blizzard tech support yesterdaqy and as of 6.30pm today I still haven't recieved a reply.
Anyonje else got this yet? any problems like mine?
I've checked the Blizzard forums and a few people have lock up problems but nothing that is the same as mine, not that it would matter anyway if it involves anythign remotely technical to fix as I'm very PC illiterate (more Window illiterate, give me a DOS machine and I can work magic) 
This is why gaming on PC's sucks arse, fuck you MIcrosoft and fuck you Blizzard.

I'm quite a bit behind here in the radback and just seek some reassuarance that everything is going to be ok.  This latest Dante story is absolutly the most thrilling, edge of seat, heatrtbreaking tale i've ever read, please tell me its goign to be alright I'm up to part 4 (Prog1682) and litterally sobbed at the fate of Galya and Victor.  This is how a comic should be, definatly my favorite Thrill of all time (well up there equal with Dredd which is all kinds of Arsom at the moment). 
I dont collect many tooth trades as i like to dig out bag progs when the bug bites me(and they're very expensive down here) but if Rebellion were to do a few nice big fat Case Files style Dante trades when it all wraps up I'll be down for them in a flash.

Not much other point to this other than to praise what is already a really popular strip, but if your a skipper (the madness, skipping any story in Tooth, I even read Space Girls admitedly I ended up in an institution shortly after ) you should serously go back and re-read you are missing out.

Some chilling moments all through the series some of my favourites
- "the Heroes be damned" line from earlier in the series (Battleship Pontmkin?)
- "How will I die"........."Spectacularly" (this one scares me, cant be a good fate for the rouge)

I have managed to port my self to the future and see the first 2 episodes of the new season and can confirm that while it doesn't scale the heights of the last couple of seasons (Farnsworth Parabox anyone?) its still a huge improvement over the movies which really weren't that good (I actually fell asleep during the second one).

It starts a bit slow but by the end of the first episode its showing alot of promise.  And episode two has some awsome branagan moments.

New one from some guy called Zac Snyder, really nothing like anythign I've seen from him before.  It seems to be about a bunch of Owls at war with another bunch of Owls.  Looks very nice (the slow motion rain hitting the owl looks spectacular), cant coment on the voice acting as I have no sound on my work PC but quite a few Aussie names in the cast.  From the same studio as Happy Feet.

fuck yeah, the small peek they show just has me so moist.  They've assembled one hell of a cast for this and its HBO so we know they wont be cutting back of the sex and violence the only concession I can see em making is maybe upping the age of the Stark girls.  [spoiler](i can just hear "The things i do for love" line from the first episode, go for a fly Bran, this was the moment the books had me up till then could be any old creaky fantasy)[/spoiler]
Oh and being HBO we probably wont get more that one or two seasons (Rome, Deadwood), but if they manage to cover the first book in that time this may well be the greatest TV fantasy show ever.  Now if Martin could manage to finish the next book in the series by the time this is released (October in the US i think) I'll be in heaven.

first day of a week of holidays yesterday and at about 5pm my PC decides to stop working (just froze in the middle of a game of Napoleon Total War).  Shit happens so i just reset it and bam funny green lines on the boot up screen and then black screen no prompts nothing.  Have now done a full re-install of Windows and it worked till i started downloading and installing updates. now the same thing happens and i can only run in safe mode?  any ideas from the more techie members of the board?  al that i downloaded was one Windows update and some drivers for the graphics card.   I have a feeling its the graphics card. The Laptop is an Alienware M9700 if that helps.

I'm getting a new PC seen but not till Tax time, i suppose i can just keep running in safe mode and get here but damn it I need my lappy back.

ANy one get into the great Total War games?
The latest isn't too bad, a bit more of a refined vesrion of the last one, more zoomed in (the world theaters are gone) and much more camaign based.  The battles look spectacular (not so much on my PC but still better than the last version) and the controls are still as good.  The empire building parts been enhanced a bit more too and finaly online!  Dont know wh'd have time to play it though.

well it happened (200+ hours clocked into MW2 multi player) i think my PS3 has just shat itself.
Turn the fraker on and it melovilantly beeps at you a few times then switches itself of and the red light just flashes.  Its an original backwards compat model with the 60GB HD anyone else had this happen, am i right in thinking this is the dreaded Yellow Light of Death (even though i cant actually see a yellow light).

I fucken love my PS3 but damn it thats just shoddy, i still play my old original Master Syetm and Mega Drive ocasionally and those things are ancient now never had any problems (i lie the megadrive has a dodgy power conector and sometinmes turns off).

Should i sign up and see if i can fix

Just watched this, its um.....kind of undescribably bad but still good? I dont understand. atrocous acting, cheap sets (what sets there where, its done cheap TV 300 style) but god damn if i wasn't grinning like a loon waiting for next weeks.  Cant just be because of the fine Boobage on display i'm not that shallow am I, has any one else seen yet?  was i just so baked i'd enjoy anything at the time? oir is there something entertaining buried in there.

Saw the premier tonight (only a week after US, Aussie TV's really gotten a kick up the arse from downloading would've had to wait 3 months for this a couple of years ago.).  NIce pilott episode, good central mystery everyone in the worldblacks out at the same time for 2 minutes and 17 seconds,[spoiler] in that time their consciosnus flashes forward to 6 months oin the future[/spoiler] carnge insues planes dropping out of the sky, car mayhem.  Feels alot like the Lost pilot and definatly the biggest event show since (i'd say the pilot probably cost more).  Lots of characters only really spent time with one this episode but obviously gonna spend more later on.

Worth watching see how it goes over the next few episodes, could be a winner.
