General / Whatever happened to Star Lord?

Has there ever been a story done about this? I mean the character rather than the actual comic.

RIP Ron Smith.
Has anyone drawn more Dredds than him? Am literally asking. Who has drawn the most?
A major talent.

Thanks chums! Very helpful.
I've actually not read Grant Morrison's book on superheroes yet. I don't know if there's much about MM or The Watchman in it though?
(I am aware of his and Moore's "history").
Is the critical consensus on Before Watchmen generally bad then?

Misguided was it? I didn't even know that much about it! Thanks

Books & Comics / Marvelman/Watchmen info?
08 January, 2019, 10:35:10 AM
Hi there readers!
Can anyone recommend any good resources for info on Alan Moore? Am thinking Marvelman/Watchmen particularly? Also stuff on Before Watchmen (although I know that wasn't him).
Any books, online articles, interviews, podcasts?
I already have Lance Parkin's excellent biography.
Any help would be marvelous/miraculous!
Thanks a lot!

General / Re: Top 2000AD moments of the last 25 years

Unsure whether we're being asked for highlights - stuff like Strontium Dog returning with the original creators or Dante coming to an end, for example - or for actual moments in stories that forcibly removed our socks.

Assuming the latter, I'm saying the finale of Dead Eyes (1577-1588), by John Smith and Lee Carter*. I wasn't reading 2000ad when it was originally published, so I'd already had the ending spoiled by reading online discussion of the story. It was still a bravura moment**

* Starts off with John Smith challenging you to think whether you've ever read anything more John Smith - working class protagonist pursued by cynical, murderous establishment and large sections apparently generated by doing a William Burroughs cut-up with a dozen issues of The Fortean Times - and builds to an anti-climactic ending that's not a million miles from the protagonist waking to find the previous events had all been a dream. But somehow, it works - and the Bagwell/Carter stories that followed were just stratospherically imaginative and accomplished (and silly and funny)

The first one. Highlights rather than moments.

General / Top 2000AD moments of the last 25 years

What do you think have been the top 10 greatest moments of 2000AD's last quarter century?
Am pretty up on the comic until the mid-90s but regrettably lost interest for a while after that.
What have I missed?

RIP Carlos Ezquerra (1947-2018). The artistic genius behind such epic comic creations as Strontium Dog, The Stainless Steel Rat and Judge Dredd.
So distinctive, unique and original.

I thought they meant Starlord....what on earth was "Tornado"?

Another short lived sister comic! Merged into 2000AS a year after SL.
Inferior in my view.

Thanks everyone! Has anyone any ideas how much a complete set would go for? Not that I'm planning to sell!
P.s. the same question for a complete set of Warrior?

General / Star Lord: 40 Years on

Going back a bit, but does anyone else have fond memories of 2000AD's short lived sister comic?
I was one in 1978 but was lucky enough to inherit a complete set from my older brother (who didn't even like 2000AD!)
I actually get the impression it was generally of a higher quality than 2000AD at the time? Nice painted covers etc.
Timequake anyone?
Star Lord himself was a bit odd.
Mind Wars? Never really got into that.
High points were of course Strontium Dog, Ro-Busters (and Timequake, I would argue).
I must be off now: the gronks are calling and I can't let them down...
Watch the skies!
