Fuzzy Freakish Lobster-Monkeys

Marine biologists in the South Pacific have discovered what appears to be the freaky mutant lovechild of a lobster and a gibbon.  

In an awe-inspiring display of understatement, one scientist is quoted as saying the beast has some "surprising characteristics".

I remember reading an interview with Melinda Messenger where she boldly predicted that in the new millenium we'd have hairy fish "Imagine that. Wouldn't that be nice" and she was right.

Apparently the "hairs" contain bacteria, which extract toxins from the enviroment.

Nice story.

It struck me there was something quite Viz-like about this particular piece of reportage:

"Dr Segonzac said he and his colleagues saw the animal fighting with two crabs over a piece of shrimp."

Evi-dence that the creature's a carnivore if ever I heard it.
