Seems Rebellion are having a push. From Diamond Retail Summit via Bleeding Cool

Be interesting to see how this pans out and what inspired the choice?

I hope there's another limited HC. I'll be all over that if so.

more info and the solicits for september i wonder about that thirteenth floor trade....

That's an odd listing. There's nowhere near enough material in the two Adams/Stokes/Irving strips published so far to make up a trade, but the solicitation text certainly makes it sound like this is a trade collection of the new Thirteenth Floor strip.

Mistake in the solicitation? Or has there been more material commissioned from that team to fill out a collection?

IIRC 13th floor ran for quite a while in Eagle after the merge.  Can't fully remember how long for or how much of what has already been printed covers it.

If they only go for a TP on this again like they did with the Movieworld Dredd I'm not going to be a happy bunny!

I'm really struggling to get my head around Rebellion's thinking on what to do Premium and what not.  There doesn't seem to be any clear logic that I can see.   :-\

I think the Thirteenth Floor is the special that will be released later this year, "Scream & Misty Present : The Thirteenth Floor"

Looking forward to the return of Brink,Defoe and Hope

The first Rebellion volume covers all of the Scream! material and into the Eagle strip, and there's likely enough of the Eagle strips for another couple of volumes, if I remember the page counts right.

If the solicitation here is for a Thirteenth Floor comic from Adams/Stokes/Irving that reprints the two stories from the Scream!/Misty (or Misty/Scream! :) ) specials plus an extra tale or two that would make sense, but I'd be surprised if it was a trade-length collection of new material. It certainly doesn't look like a second reprint volume of the original series though, unless the solicitation text got completely mangled :)

EDIT:

...and as I was writing, broodblik hits on the most likely explanation :)

Phew, there are a lot of pop-ups and otherwise a bunch of nothing on Bleeding Cool. I feel grimy now.

I believe there's about 145 episodes of The Thirteenth Floor. A lot are 3 pages long but still an astonishing, sustained weekly page turn-out for Ortiz – and there's plenty of crazier storylnes yet to be reprinted.

Yes, the whole "Mystery of the Gents' Boutique" storyline, and the introduction of Mini-Max... :)

My page count in the database I have here for Eagle puts the page count for Thirteenth Floor at around 400 pages, though I think there's a chunk of 50 or 60 pages already reprinted in the Rebellion edition. Still, I reckon there's enough there for another pair of 170-180-page collections before the whole lot is reprinted, so perhaps the volume this year and one next October would see the whole tale done.

I don't think any of the stories were ever named, but going through my database I seem to have named all of them, which might give an idea of how bonkers it gets:

The Thirteenth Floor (concluding the tale from Scream!)
The Cat Burglar
Farewell, Bert Runch...
Nightmare Leak
The Test
Switched Off!
Grand Reopening
The Mystery of the Gents' Boutique
The Recruits
Special Shoes
The Wrath of Auberon
The Cobra (introduces Mini-Max)
Computer Fatigue
The Caretaker
Teaching the Trotters
The Rabbit Robber
Max Fu
To Russia with Max
Mad Max
The Bad Bikers
Big Joe
The Hot-Rod Granny
Punishing the Piggetts
The Beadles
Max-Mania

The first book of 13th Floor contains about 180 pages:

Pages 5–64 Originally printed in Scream! #1-15

Pages 65–171 Eagle & Scream! #128-139

I remember up to the Russia bit - must haven stuck with Eagle (and Scream! and Tiger) for longer than I thought.

Why no more 'Defoe' trade paperbacks? The next unprinted story arc - 'The Damned - is coming out in two Megazine floppies later in the year; but why not print them as trades to continue the collection??

The obvious (and sad) answer is that they didn't sell too well.

It's a shame, as a single trade paperback, 160-ish pages, would conclude Leigh Gallagher's run on the strip. My fingers are tightly crossed for it's appearance in an Ultimate Collection extension - two lovely hardbacks would give us the whole of the Gallagher run, as it ought to have been collected by Rebellion (the ending of the first trade is a bit of a nothing moment; whereas the middle of the second trade is a full-page splash reveal that was clearly intended as the ending of the first arc. The second trade then ends smack-bang halfway through the siege of the Tower storyline. Such a bizarre decisions).

Thanks, Jimbo. And like you say - a real shame.
