I think this is why there are so few comedians around these days.  So one of the leading trends on Twitter today is "Rectum".  Why, you ask? (no, seriously ...)   Well, it turns out Gloucester Royal Infirmary was perhaps not the safest place to go for treatment today!

Poor man must have been mortarfied

I see Dwayne Johnson advocates for the use of airsoft guns lmao. Take it away, big guy.

Perhaps from here on all films involving firearms should use Nerf guns?  That would have made Saving Private Ryan a much more interesting film, no?

only if it applies to cannons as well.

Can you imagine the remake of Dambusters with a chuffing great big barrel of foam?

I can't think of any movie that wouldn't be improved with action scenes like THIS

...why would you expect a weapon to be the genuine article?

Why would you expect a mix-up to be impossible? All the situation requires is a day's (or even half a day's) training for any actor expected to "fire a gun."

It's my understanding that the reason real firearms with blanks are used on film sets, is because they're the cheapest, simplest way to film a firearm discharging. If your A-list actor has to go on a course, even just for half a day, that's time they're not on set, filming is delayed and I don't think a big-name actor is going to go on a training course for free. Or even accept that they need the training in the first place. So by that point it would probably be simpler and cheaper to start using replica/decommissioned firearms and special effects and have no live weapons on set at all.

This is all just speculation* of course, because I know the square root of fuck all about Hollywood/California gun laws and the insurance implications for studios, or how any of that impacts on A-list actor contract negotiations.

*and by that I mean worthless bullshittery

Looking at their (Hiya Toyus) other ranges you'll be able to have 4 inch Dredd vs Alien Vs Predator vs Robo-cop battle for around 9some variation) £20 a pop.

Can't see any current 6 inch figures but not had time to search too widely.

https://www.zavvi.com/brands/hiya-toys.list

There's a 2014 Robocop remake action figure at the end of that link. How the feck is there a market for that?

Soooo a random thought , but would a xenomorph lay an egg in a replicant?

Are you suggesting an alternative to the Voight-Kampff test?

Of course. It seemed strange that the champion of only his own creator rights and originator of all those devastating Mills Bombs dropped on bullshit-spouting editors and publishers would meekly accept such an arrangement, but there you go.

'Uncle' Pat's championing of creators' rights has never extended to artists. You only have to look at his career and ask yourself how long any of his long-running strips would have lasted if he'd extended his own "no one works on this but me" position to his co-creators (the artists) to see that almost none of his creations would have got past the first series. It's abundantly apparent that he doesn't consider the artist an equal co-creator. I have a word for someone like that, and it's REDACTED.

The fact that the artists do most of the heavy lifting in the majority of "Uncle Pat"s strips just makes it worse.

I don't think anyone would object to Jeremy Clarkson being smothered by love...

It depends. Is Love the name of a silverback gorilla?

One universal truth remains that 'punch down' comedy comes from a positions of deep seated self loathing.

I wouldn't say that's a "universal truth". It's true for you, no doubt, but making broad generalizations like that, based on personal anecdotal experiences, never ends well.

Sometimes it comes from a lack of empathy, other times it's a lack of understanding.

And sometimes, people punch down because, deep down, they're just dicks*.

Brace yourself Hawk, there's a non-zero chance the staff at the local branch will get a bit pissy that they have to deal with your paperwork and you didn't just do it online.

Dude in distress:

Is he in distress because he's at the Oscars, thus surrounded by Hollywood's most exploitative predators?

A cock in a frock will cause me no shock, but thon looks like one of them dolls that hide the shame of toilet paper.

Sir Pterry put it quite succinctly:

Satire is meant to ridicule power. If you are laughing at people who are hurting, it's not satire, it's bullying
