just a quick note wishing you all a Merry Christmas/ Xmas/Holiday/whatever.

take it easy, don't let anyone get you down and enjoy it.
if you hate Christmas etc then it'll be over before you know it.

Off Topic / Violent Horror
30 November, 2018, 06:11:18 PM
You might know I dabble in the auld writing...

Last year an extreme horror publisher announced an open submission period.
I chanced my arm and wrote something quite despicable.
it's totally out of character but I missed the deadline.....
so as I'd spent a traumatic year on it I put it on Amazon, as people seem to like this stuff (or so I think judging on the success of others in the genre).

it is VERY harsh..and I still struggle to reconcile where it all came from...
If anyone would like to download the sample they can do so here.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wrong-Place-Time-violent-thriller-ebook/dp/B07KLPTQ6Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1543601295&sr=8-2&keywords=tom+stearns

if they wish to spend hard earned cash to buy it then I am more grateful than you could possibly imagine.
if you're a fan of this type of thing then drop me a PM with what you think and please leave a review. this is new to me I am concerned I've gone too far.  :-[

Off Topic / question regarding writing and not working
11 November, 2018, 04:16:28 PM
Some of you may know I tinker a bit in the writing dept. not expecting to make megabucks etc but I have about 8 novels etc half written but struggling to find the time. yes, I know the cliche of finding the time comes easy if you have the passion etc but I have a proper 16 hr a day job.

however, I am probably going to be made redundant early 2021 when contracts end and as I will be 49 then I want to have a 6-12 month drive to write full time (using savings)...

is there a way to contribute NI still or should I just 'write on' (wick)... I doubt I'll make pensionable age but has anyone any advise etc.

hope someone knows what i'm asking....

A long time ago I saw a play on BBC (I think) about a man who wanted to stay in a hospital bed who wasn't sick...this obviously caused problems etc and was probably 'an satyre of the daye on the NHS' or something...anyone have an idea?

General / Who Kindlefies 2000ad pubs for amazon?
28 July, 2017, 12:56:46 PM
I ask as I took the plunge and bought Case files 28 on Kindle to use the panel scan technology which works a treat with the few Marvel and DC titles I've purchased. but this was dreadful. it skipped panels, presented them in the wrong order, cut off text in some and there were whole pages that were not even processed?

by the third story in it was intolerable and had to get a refund.
I recently purchased Titan and there were a few panel skips in the whole book but nothing like the hot mess CF 28 was...

Film & TV / cableless: Walking dead season 5
07 May, 2016, 06:49:03 PM
Since things went west at the auxlen household i have been forced to fall behind on a lot of stuff. (tooth, daredevil etc)
A faint acquaintance foolishly let sllip that his amazon prime had season 5 of TWD. he my new bezzie....but i think i'm pushing my luck.
I  am really enjoying the twist of Rick and the gang being the 'bad guys.' And it is so accurate. they have transformed into what the new world needed them to be and the 'weak' people that invited them in had no idea. it's like Rick and the gang are just as guilty as the maniacs that razed and raped terminus, only thier takeover will be more insidious...or maybe not as i have three episodes to watch.
that is all. Sorry for being late to the party.

Off Topic / Project when I get bored.
26 November, 2015, 03:17:11 PM
I travel across the country and spend a lot of time in hotels and that kind of thing gets old quickly (even when work pays). So over the last few years i have been trying to make a Supernatural Journal like the dad from the TV show.
It's strangely therapeutic.
I've posted a few of the pages here:

I'm thinking of hiding it somewhere....
