Maybe in Meg history, but let's not forget Firekind in the Prog which managed to miss out an entire episode.

Think that was before your time as editor though.

I hope you will still buy the Prog (?), albeit not as a subscriber.

I always felt the last series of Ace Trucking was the weakest and no where near the level of the previous stories. But I haven't retread them since so it is interesting to hear your view. Here's hoping they turn up in the 2000AD Ulimate Collection.

I can't believe people are still calling The Order 'impenetrable'

Ok hand on heart, can you honestly say you understand which time period each different Rittertahl is from and what their motivation is?

Off the top my head-

Ace Trucking
Calaballistics Inc
The VCs
Glimmer Rats
Sinister Dexter
Halo Jones
Nemesis with colour centre spreads
Slaine
Damnation Station
Robo Hunter Wagner Gibson original only
Grey Area
Kingdom
Junker
Rick Random
Sancho Panzer
Stainless Steel Rat (guessing possible rights issue)
Strontium Dog including Starlord colour spreads
Ten-Seconders
Mind Wars, Time Quake, Holocaust ( if we can have Starlord stuff)
Future shocks

(Ok not Junker)

I'm actually not that bothered. I have plenty of other stuff to read as well as this. Now if a Prog or Meg was late that would be different.

So combine this with Rebellion's planned reprint schedule for the classic UK comics they have just acquired the rights for and there will literally be no time to sleep it's all looking very promising.

I read Ant Wars in an extreme edition a few years back. As a child I had been vaguely aware of it and it was the kind of thing that put me off 2000AD before I saw the light. After reading it, my feelings were very much "is that it?".

On this collection as a whole, I am swaying between being very excited to thinking how am I going to find the time and storage for it. Not to mention the money. There are things I already have and won't double dip on (I'm not counting the original Progs in saying that) and other things I would buy, most notably Nemesis if it had colour centre spreads restored ( if you count the Deviant Edition that will be a treble dip), and stuff I only have in Prog format I could be tempted to buy e.g.  Bits of Slaine I don't have GNs of, Halo Jones, DR and Quinch, Ace Trucking, Savage, Nikolai Dante ( the ones currently not in print).

Didn't Colony Earth get republished relatively recently?

Yes it is in the Sci-Fi Thrillers volume.

I read it for the first time recently and it has to be in my bottom three ever 2000AD thrills.

It makes Death Planet look like Shakespeare.

When I found out there wasn't a Strontium Dog story in the prog*, I'll admit I mentally questioned Johnny being on the front cover. (I kind of like my covers to have something to do with the contents, unless it's a big 'loads of characters included' crowd scene.)

I guess the thing about it is, it is the 40th Anniversary special and I think it is fair to say Strontium Dog is 2000AD's 2nd best well know strip, so given that I think it is perfectly reasonable for him to be on the cover. And Carlos is probably 2000AD's best loved artist and these are "his" two main 2000AD characters...so of course they are going to feature on the cover...I would have thought...

Ok so for the non-initiated, a couple of questions :

- what is the Leopard of Limd Street about?

wikipedia

Thanks.

I was though looking for a bit more insight from the Hive Mind. Clearly people think "it's great" but I would like to know a bit more before investing my credits and more pertinently adding to my massive reading list (not to mention worsening my storage problem). e.g yes it's great and here is why.

- I get the feeling there is a lot of love for it about. So guess you would recommend it, but can you explain why?

Hardback showing as out of stock again....

That's odd. It  definitely  said "out of stock" earlier. Now it is showing as available. The soft cover was also showing as limited stock.

It could be something to do with how the system counts stock available to order based on whether there are some in baskets but not yet completed, effectively reserved for a period of time, which then are released back for sale if not purchased after a certain time.

Pure speculation in my part, but either way I guess if anyone wants this they should buy it now or risk waiting for a second printing.

Come back John Wagner, or Rob Williams... please :|

Just out if interest what didn't you like about This week's Dredd? It seemed perfectly OK to me.

Clearly Wagner can't go on writing Dredd for ever so I think it is good to give others a chance.

And don't worry I don't think Rob Williams is going anywhere judging by what he had to say at the 40th.

Overall a good Prog this week, even if The Order continues to be as impenetrable as ever. I think only a complete re-read from the start of series one will help. Thing is I'm not sure it is worth it / I have too much else to read.

Loving Leigh Gallagher's art, which I never thought I would say, but with this he has joined the top echelon of art bots.
