Interesting, and slightly disappointing, to note that Prog 2130 is now being trailed in Previews at 48 pages and not the 100 originally stated in the article linked at the top of this thread.
I wasn't overly fussed about the Regened FCBD issue, but accept that it probably wasn't entirely aimed at me anyway! But I was very much looking forward to a bumper "special edition" of kid-friendly proggage of the heft of the end of year progs.
I'm assuming the original press release was a mistake, but clarification would be good.

Absolutely stonking Meg this month, with almost everything being on great form. One major niggle though is the printing error in the floppy. The reprint of the opening page towards the end of the book, with the speech bubbles from whatever *should* have been in its place, made it quite difficult to work out what is going on. Would have thought, what with this being quite a big thing for Rebellion, we may yet see the missing page printed next month though! (Or perhaps a corrected floppy reprint bagged with the next Meg as well. Nah, that won't happen.)

Infinity War, which was on Sky Premier last night when I happened to flick over about fifteen minutes in. Have seen it a couple of times already, and wasn't really looking for a third viewing so soon after... But you know what, after giving it five minutes with a "I'll have an early night after that" proviso, I sat through the whole thing.
I think it's just "one of those movies"- like American Werewolf and The Wicker Man (and The Happening, but for entirely other reasons) that is endlessly entertaining. Probably one of my favourite films ever, to be honest.
They really did get everything right, didn't they? Might watch it again tomorrow.

Any idea when we are likely to get the Mind Wars floppy?

As others have said, highlights of 2000AD's second golden age include the entirety of Nikolai Dante, all of Kingdom so far, Cradlegrave, Brink, and I'd say Caballistics and Absalom, possibly also Stickleback, and definitely Lawless in the Megazine. That's some damn good comics right there.

NecroBUMP!

Went into my local second hand records and comics shop today, and they had a pack of the first four issues of this run for £7, so I bought them.

First up, I had no idea this was a continuation of the "proper" Incredible Hulk series (as in legacy numbers under the issue number), instead imagining it to be yet another stand-alone series that will inevitably be cancelled and forgotten in a year or so. That this is part of the proper Hulk continuity lends it an "importance" it wouldn't otherwise have.

Secondly, it's bloody, bloody good. I have very little love for the big green guy in comics, barring a few instances- but this has grabbed me immediately. Four issues down and I'm dying to pick up #5 to whatever it's up to now. I want to see the savage Sasquatch (last time I read anything about Walter Langowski he was in a turtle neck sweater and completely in control of the beast, oh, and I was a teenager). Love the art, love Ewing's script and love the tone.

Anybody who has been reading this care to reassure me it doesn't tail off after the first four issues?

Carp is BY far my favourite filmmaker working today, which is sadly easier to say after the death of George A Romero. There's something magnificent in all of his films, even when he's battling a shitty idea or not firing on all cylinders.

Since prog 2100, I've been a very happy bunny and Tharg is truly spoiling us with the strippage contained. This week is no exception, with yet again there being nothing I can complain about. Well, except maybe the cover, which was a bit generic and murky.
If I had to choose a favourite story, again I'd go for Brink, with Fiends close behind. Dredd is really getting going, Kingdom is effortlessly entertaining and Skip Tracer is so improved I'm having difficulty seeing it as the same strip.

So there we go, a five for five prog in a run of five for fives. And yet I keep seeing people on Facebook bemoaning the prog not being a patch on "how it used to be". Do they even read it, I wonder?

There's a few people online that remember the Fear on Friday series, including Mark Kermode and Reece Sheersmith, so I think it's safe to say they existed. I can't check them out, because I don't have Twitter, and that's where the links go- but no, I can't find any video grabs of the idents or stills I'm afraid.

That's bloody fabulous.

I have no idea where to start when talking about Carlos Ezquerra, an artist who has been a part of my life since I was too small to even understand that people drew for a living. In fact, when 2000AD came along and declared their creators to be "droids", at that age I probably thought that they were. In the same way that Tharg will always be the fictional "face" of the comic, Carlos- along with Pat and John- will always be what I think of when anyone mentions it. And thanks to his work, they do mention it- even forty-two years on from the start- and mention it a lot.
Last night I sat and read through The Apocalypse War, my absolute favourite of all his works, and cried the a way a man of nearly fifty probably shouldn't outside of the loss of a member of the family.
To imagine the comic without future strips by Carlos Ezquerra is, at the moment, impossible. I sincerely hope there are a few Dredds and Stronts in the pipeline, ready to print. But if so, when that last one comes, I will cry again, I know.
Would it be too much to hope that 2000AD have enough unpublished drawings by him hanging around in drawers, that the comic could periodically print Star Scans, so he never really has to go. And when they run out, reprint old covers as back pages. Make the little Dredd head on the Nerve Centre page always an Ezquerra, in perpetuity.
Comics have lost the most significant artist I've ever known in my lifetime, and a gutsy hero of the highest degree. My condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and every Squaxx in the world.
