I finally got round to reading Stars of Psi Division, and lets say not my favourite volume.

Firstly, Karyn I don't mind as a character, but the art style in the first two stories really grates for me, it's just not something I like.  The Janus stories weren't bad but nowt spectacular and the pyrokinetic character is very much a one shot type, though I'm aware she was used in a few stories.

Read Return of the King and a good chunk of this was stories I'd read before but perhaps only individua frames jogging my memory. Example being the Saman screaming"It's the end of Gemini 2" at the beginning of that story. The fact I didn't outright remember the strips 100% means I really enjoyed them. Return of the King itself I enjoyed even though I knew Dredds rather hilarious twisted logic.

All in all, good stuff.

So I'm guessing by that list on Wiki regarding Savage/Invasion where it says one book for each,  the entirety of Invasion will be in one book (maybe to pad it out the Savage Disaster story pre Volgan War?), and Savage will encompass the Guvnor and Taking Liberties.  Shame in a way as I have all that but hardback reprints will be decent.  The only thing I know is that there were follow up stories to The Guv'nor but maybe it's too new to print right now.

Funnily enough I was thinking that it was a wee bit inconsistent as I have the Shako trade which I picked up in a charity shop in mint condition, and remember reading Flesh books 1 and 2 though book 1 seemed a bit more violent.

Also, some of the stuff in Invasion was a wee bit over the top by the standards of the time.  It didn't bother me mind you.  Comics then could be a bix of a mixed bag when you looked at the likes of Warlord, Action, Victor and Hotspur and so on.

That's an unusual image of Pa Angel. Granted we account for different art styles and we had the image of him younger in the intro story to Finish but it's an odd one. Is it meant to be Paid when younger but before the events of Judge Child.

He looks a bit like Clay from Son's of Anarchy.

One thing that would be nice to get in the extension in my mind would be Pirates of the Black Atlantic, not essential, but it would have been nice.  Ideally they could have had that in the same volume as Block Mania and Apocalypse War but it was not to be.

So what is next, wouldn't mind something new rather than something that has already been started. Nothing against any of the other strips.

So what's the next couple of volumes. We're nearing the end of the original planned run but we have an extension.

I do remember a Heroes strip in one of the annuals with the "Heil" mantra that was not in the reprints.  :)

Nice to know, can't say there was that much violence but I guess you have to look at the standards of the time.

When I first joined this forum I remember asking about the availability of Inferno as I had the Harlem Heroes in the 2000AD Extreme Editions.  I did eventually get the large case files size reprint.  However, I recently reread it and I did find Inferno in some ways largely inferior to HH.  First off, my main issue is why did they have to retread the tiresome Artie Gruber again, as I felt he wasn't a particularly wonderful addition to the Aeroball strip in the first place.

Secondly, and my biggest issue was the pacing.  Did the prog suddenly decide to wrap up the strip for some reason due to maybe popularity issues or something.  The reason I ask this is that is seemed every other 'main' character gets wiped largely off frame in the last issue.  It seemed a rushed and largely undeserved ending pacing wise.

I had actually enjoyed the Aeroball strip funnily enough due to not being a sports fan (never read Mean Streets or Mean Arena or whatever it was called), but the Inferno strip although had potential didn't seem to do as well.

Well Osprey are a publishers that I know more for their various Military guides that focus on a particular subject.  IE Royal Navy Battlecruiser, Tiger Tank, IJN Aircraft Carriers etc.  The books are usually of a high quality so I expect the card game will be.

Armitage was a mixed bag in places.  Certainly not the worst one I've ever read but not totally great.  In terms of character attitude he reminds me of a Dreddverse Gene Hunt. :)

Some of the art in the Flashback stories seemed a little murky but I don't know if that was reproduction issues or how it was.  It wasn't too bad.

Okay, well this week I had got my Nemesis volume 2 as mentioned, and finally got round to reading Nikolai Dante.  I've never read a single panel of this before and found it a little...mixed to be honest.  The character seems interesting enough except for his constant use of the word "Bosjomei" (is that right?).

I've heard that it does get better.

Bit of an observation here.  I have the Nemesis Case Files size books.  I was rereading the Gothic Empire but in the new book, and is it a reproduction issue, or is it just me?  The hardback was the first time I noticed that Frankensteins nurse had a hunchback.

Silly thing to notice I know but....
