Dave Gibbons created Rogue Trooper, who, whatever the merits of the story and its repeated reboots, remains the most visually iconic 2000AD character of all time, next to Dredd. (Yes, probably beating Johnny.) That's down to Dave.

I'm surprised you're surprised! This was only ever going one way.

This will be interesting - the impression I get is that D'Israeli is beloved around here, but absolute Marmite in the wider fandom. And I'm afraid I'm not a fan of his unique flavour, so it's John Higgins, for Freaks, Revolution, the Platinum Horde, the Phantom, and, most of all, The Shooting Match.

Simon Coleby - he's come a long, long way. I remember Bato Loco being the real turning point in his work, when he remerged into the limelight with his art on a new level.

For head-cables and asymmetrical chaps with at least one strange eye; for the ability to imbue throwaway characters with personality and depth; for Judge Anderson's bum - Brett Ewins, my favourite artist ever.

He's got plenty of time to salt the earth before he goes, and he's more than capable.

I feel like I'm being lured back into the grand B5 rewatch now, but I'll probably hold off 'cos I've watched the middle of Season 3 - the best season - a few times too many.

I did Crusade last time - in JMS's suggested order, rather than broadcast order - and then stalled out two episodes before the end.

The question is though, when do you watch "In the Beginning"?
I wouldn't start a new viewer off with it - it blows a lot of secrets. But obviously once you've watched the whole series, it doesn't really matter - I always do it after season 4, when it was made. But where exactly do you watch Thirdspace? Is it before Atonement? In between scenes in Atonement? Before the epilogue in Moments of Transition?

The Biz. He's not my absolute favourite, but he is great, and The Horned God is still a standout series.

Colin MacNeil is the artistic king of modern 2000AD and the premiere current Dredd artist. Whether you prefer his classic painted work, or, as I do, his contemporary style, MacNeil is the man.

Bah, it's not a proper B5 rewatch unless you start with The Gathering!

I liked Elson's early work on Shadows, but for some unknown reason, his current (superior) style doesn't grab me. Weston's similar - I've seen him be critical of his own earlier / mid-period work, but I love all the gurning ugliness (beautifully-drawn) he used to bring to his characters. The vote's for Weston.

Belardinelli is one of my all-time favourites -  unrestrained imagination flowed freely from his pen and brush. A creator of sheer beauty, ridiculous fun, and, with The Dead, nightmarish visions.

Bryan Talbot. His figures always have a wonderful solidity about them, despite their frequently weird and arcane nature.
