The saddest thing is, last I heard Mark's son was in a hip-hop band called 'Rolan Bolan and the Brotherhood of Bounce'. It's not something to be proud of, Roly boy.
And Zowie Bowie (who inspired the name Rolan Bolan) is now called Joe Bowie. I thought Zowie was alright.
What about Bob Geldof's daughter, Fifi Trixabelle? And Frank Zappa's son Moon Unit? You're LUCKY you're called Gary.

Fair point; I spoke a bit rashly - although I actually do know quite a bit about Christianity, having had over the last few years an active interest in Christianity's history as a subject, and having read a lot about its foundations, ascent to power, reformations / divisions and geographical dispersal. I don't really believe in attacking things I know nothing about.
I realise I should have specified that it was the Irish Catholicism's abuse of power I was speaking against, rather than just Christianity. I apologise for that.
 Catholicism is the branch of Christianity I was brought up with, and am most familiar with. My resentment lies in the fact that the Catholic church in Ireland had until recently power beyond lay people, and many Catholic leaders abused it by conspiring to cover up crimes. I realise I would not have the freedom to say the same thing in a strict Muslim country, but I say why not actually use that freedom to speak against what you are opposed to? What I am opposed to is not people having Catholic or Christian beliefs of any kind, but the hierarchy itself abusing power. I don't mind what people believe, Christian, Muslim, pagan or whatever, as long as it doesn't harm other people.
And I believe I did point out that many Catholic clergy were good people; but I am happy to see the criminals amongst them (which I remember calling SOME, not all clergy) being rooted out. I don't like to see ANY organisation so powerful it remains above the law, not least one that hides behind religion.

I may have worded my last post wrongly, and I have apologised.  Maybe blatant attacks on Christianity are not constructive, but in this country, Christianity's most common form by far is the Catholic hierarchy, and freedom to attack it lessens its power, which I think is a step forward.  For what it's worth, i know people personally who have been physically harmed by that power; perhaps that's why my last post was written rashly. I really do respect everyone's religious beliefs.
 
In any case, I really don't think calling me a 'twat' contributes to decent debate.

Same punter who said 'every homosexual is a repressed nazi', no doubt. (This does not necessarily represent my own views, mind you.) For what it's worth, I'm still glad when I see Christianity attacked (I don't know enough about other religions to say the same about them). As I said before, some of the Catholic hierarchy leaders here until quite recently considered themselves above the law, and usually found that they were right. Now their numerous crimes of abuse and conspiracy are being exposed (although often still unpunished by law), their power has become seriously threatened, and I personally welcome anything, even cheap and simplistic jibes, that speeds their fall downwards. If they can't be jailed for covering up crimes, I'm happy to see them disgraced and ridiculed for it. That said, there are a lot of good people within the hierarchy, but hopefully they will not have to associate with criminals any more.
