Or is it just me? I need to read my emails and I can't get at the damn things. It's been like that since at least this afternoon.

Dave Hailwood brought this up on the Temple APA site. An update from Ning was posted on April 16th stating their plans.

QuoteAn Update from Ning
Posted by Jason Rosenthal on April 16, 2010 – 3:13 pm

Hi Everyone,

As many of you know, we made a decision yesterday to focus 100% of the company on enhancing the features and services we offer to paying Ning Creators. The tens of thousands of you who already use our paid service represent over 75% of our traffic, and we've heard repeatedly from you ways that we can deliver a killer service to help make your Ning Network more effective. Some examples of things we are working on that you've asked for include new APIs, a new mobile experience and new advertising and revenue opportunities.

As part of this change, we'll be phasing out our free service.  On May 4, 2010, we will share with you all of the details of our new offering, including features and price points, through a series of blog posts, emails, and conference calls. We recognize that there are many active Ning Networks for teachers, small non-profits, and individuals and it's our goal to have a set of product and pricing options that will make sense for all of them. For Ning Creators using our free service who choose to move to another service, we will offer a migration path and time to make that change. We will still continue to allow free trials and test networks on the Ning Platform.

We look forward to talking to you further on May 4th.

If you're a member of a Ning forum and you haven't noticed anyone mentioning this yet, it might be a good idea to bring it up yourself. I think a lot of people will be totally oblivious to this.

Someone's set up a Facebook group dedicated to getting the shortlived '80s horror comic Scream! collected and reprinted. As you can see, it needs more members...

05 March, 2010, 09:56:28 PM
Mentioned this over here http://www.2000adonline.com/forum/index.php/topic,27612.135.html but decided it needed it's own topic.

There'a a new CGI animated film called Despicable Me out this year. Check out the main character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLDifuj4i4s

Does he remind anyone else of this character? http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/g/grimfien.htm

Following the success of the Back From The Depths Hallowscream Special in 2009, (available online as a free downloadable pdf file), we've decided to do it all again this year. That means we're once again looking for contributors. Here's this year's guidelines, (barely altered from last year's guidelines 'cos I'm feeling incredibly lazy)...

Suggestions / 2000 3D
28 November, 2009, 12:58:45 PM
The recent 3D week on Channel 4 was a bit rubbish, but both it and a special 3D issue of The Sky At Night magazine I saw the other day have got me thinking.

How about a 3D special of 2000ad? Yes, it'd be pointless and gimmicky, but now I've thought of the idea I really, really want a copy.

Books & Comics / Back From The Depths Needs YOU!
30 April, 2009, 09:59:13 PM

This year sees the 25th anniversary of the appearance of Scream! comic on newsagents shelves. So we at Back From The Depths were thinking... What better time to pay tribute by producing our very own Scream! inspired tribute publication?

That's where you lot come in. Back From The Depths are looking for artists and writers to help bring this idea to fruition.

Click the link for more details and submission guidelines.

Books & Comics / Temple APA Issue Three
03 April, 2009, 09:25:32 PM
I've copied and pasted this from the Temple site in case anyone around here is interested...

Issue three of the Temple APA is now available and free to download

Temple APA issue three (48mb)

The Temple APA is a digital showcase of British Comic Writers and Artists both amateur and professional (also including a Smallpress Comics directory). And we are looking for people to contribute to the next issue, even if it's a couple of pages, it can be anything - comic strips, scripts with no artwork, sketchbook pages, a plug for your own comic... pretty much anything. We'd like to get a broad cross-section of all the talent out there.

You can visit our website here: //http://www.templeapa.ning.com

Or email: templeapa [AT] googlemail.com

Creative Common / 15 seconds...
13 March, 2009, 04:56:59 PM
Inspired by //http://www.2000adonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=24392 , I decided to see if I could draw Dredd's head in 15 seconds. Then I attempted to do the same with other 2000ad characters...

  Anyone else fancy a go?

General / Manga Dredd
25 August, 2008, 10:27:11 PM
Around the time the Dredd film was released, I remember reading something about a manga version of Judge Dredd being published in Japan. Not only was it different from 2000ad's version, but it didn't seem to have much to do with the film either. I don't remember where I read about this, (could have been in the prog itself), but I'm pretty sure there was also a picture of a helmeted Dredd.

I'm wondering if anyone here has seen the manga in question or has any other info on it. Failing that, does anyone remember reading about it and know where to find the picture of the Japanese mangafied Dredd?
