What's all this about? Is nowhere safe from the UOS? Now they're wiping the Emerald Hill Zone!

General / Re: Dante weapons questions..........

Of course, as someone else has already stated, the Weapons Crest was/is also a script device to allow us, the reader, to learn details of background about Dante's future world and the characters that inhabit it.

I used to enjoy the banter too. It did pop up at the start of the last story I think. Its purpose was also to educate Dante to become a nobleman but I would hardly say he's the reformed character his Crest would want to be yet... Maybe it's just given up on him as a lost cause.

What I can't believe is that nobody on this thread has even mentioned Devlin Waugh! This is the one thing I most eagerly await in the Meg every month.

First off, its Devlin Waugh. Second, its the sequel to Swimming in Blood. Third, its Colin MacNeil at his most sublime (his art just keeps getting better and better!). And fourth... It's Devlin Waugh, ok?

Freudian Ships?

Are they the sort of thing that features in the second Austin Powers movie?

"What's that, up in the sky? It looks like a giant-"

"Johnson! Johnson, what's that on the scope. It looks just like an enormous-"

Etc, etc, ad nauseam...

At what point does glue go from being just sticky slime to actually holding something solidly?

How do snails decide who's going to where then frilly underwear and who's going to roll over and go to sleep afterwards?

Politicians? What good do they actually do?

>>Yeah, right - about as surely as Bond couldn't get out of the Arctic cliff[backslash]solar death ray[backslash]shite CGI tidal wave Cliffhanger in Die Another Day.

But I liked that bit. I certainly made me chuckle, so over the top and togue in cheek was it.

Sorry guys. I feel like a total idiot now. I've just read the message further down the board titled SUBSCRIPTIONS.

I have to say that this one is only a few days late. I've been chasing my subscription for another publication by a different company for a couple of months now and *still* no joy!

General / Where is my prog 1326?
« on: 05 February, 2003, 04:52:50 PM »
Has anyone else who subscribes not had their prog 1326 delivered. There's everyone raving about it and today it goes on sale to all and sundry in the shops and I'm still waiting for my subscription copy. It's not the first time either!

Prog / Re: Red Seas, an apology

I enjoyed 'Red Seas' as a disposable tale a la 'Cutthroat Island' and with heavy overtones of Tim Powers' 'On Stranger Tides'. However, I think Yeowell is fine drawing it, it's just that it *needs* to be coloured - just like his work on the Devlin Waugh epic Chasing Herod/Reign of Frogs/Sirius Rising.

>>V.C.'s was advertised as Book II, so unless it's a very short book, not that.

Oh, shame. I was hoping we wouldn't be seeing any more of this outdated strip.

>>Was Atavar this year or last? If so, then Atavar for the worst strip. The Scrap was close, as was Bison, although I quite enjoyed it.

Excuse me? Does this make any sense to anyone else?

Make up your mind, please.

Any opportunity for gratuitous nudity should be rigorously pursued by the editors of any publication featuring 'strips' about women with gravity-defying norks! Rock on!

General / Re: Devlin who?

It's Waugh as in War, as in Evelyn Waugh, and definitely NOT Warf (as in laugh)!

Totally agree. Boo Cook is fine for comic Future Shocks but for a potentially meaty topic like this, no way. Take out the comedy alien duo and change the artist to someone who can do mean and moody 15-rated stuff, rather than My Little Extra-Terrestrial and the story would improve 100%, I'm sure!
