General / Simon Davis Art references.
04 December, 2008, 11:33:19 AM
I am mildly embarrassed about displaying such detailed geekery, but it makes up for not knowing how many links in dredds chain or Boba Fetts second cousins middle name.

Ladies & gentlemen, I put it to you that MR Simon Davis, has excellent art taste & the same books as I do...

J.W. Waterhouse- Gathering Rosebuds while ye may
Gustav Klimt- from the Beethoven Frieze

This may of course have been covered on review threads which I'm too lazy to read.

Off Topic / return from the long walk.
04 September, 2008, 11:01:57 AM
not that i actually went on a long walk or anything so dramatic,  I've just been too busy all summer to hang out with humans. Being too lazy to cruise the board to see whats new , whos new, whats been happening, I expect you all to give me fresh insightful & entertaining updates here.

And for those of you who I've missed; congratulations on your new baby! happy birthday! wow that artwork is great ! ha ha brilliant link, welcome to the board, group hugs and misc sweary rants..

Here, I've been painting like mad, still waiting for that big break; been to london umpteen times for nerd fill of museums, got nearly drowned in Northern Ireland floods, one child went to africa all summer with a charity thing..which was cooler that cool. apart from that its been like living in an episode of 'helicopter heros' ( without helicopters ), 'secret millionaire' ( without the millionaire ), 'dragons den' (without the ideas or investment), and 'Balamory' meets 'dawn of the dead' ( more gore & less hope ).

So how the devil are you all ?!

heres a picture i made..

Off Topic / anyone got good freecycle stories ?
26 June, 2007, 12:13:36 PM
anyone got any good/ bad freecycle stories ?

first there was ebay where we got rid of old crap for money, now theres freecycle where people take away old un-sellable crap for free, tho i still prefer the even lazier option of leaving it on the street for someone to recycle in the night.

we got a new friend this week, a shop mannequin, shes great !  'britney' is currently modeling a fine array of hats & patchwork clothing, soon to be seen on ebay.

Its nuts what people will give away !

( my trailers still available ...free..please ? )

Off Topic / Christmas "ufo " sighting
26 December, 2006, 06:22:14 PM
well never mind waking up with an unexplained nasty burn on my leg the other day,  the latest mystery requiring investigation was a strange light in sky on Christmas night.

a collegue phoned me up, he'd also alerted a neighbour so a few people saw it, apparently there was a second light just previously that i didnt see, sodium orange, very bright, independant light source, no way reflected light, below cloud cover, having no shape or substance visible even with powerful binoculars, no engine noise on still quiet night where cars miles away could be heard. it traveled a slow wobbly path alongh the loch, high up, brightness wavering, then stopped moving started flashing, like a candle stuttering out & disappeared, possible upwards into clouds, possibly light going out. didnt manage to get any photos. apparently the one seen previously emerged low in west & travelled up wards  eastwards in a zig zag manner before fading out.

so i need to find out height of cloud cover, get a hold of bloke who works local MOD, and see if theres any sesmic activity been recorded in area, which is riddled with fault-lines.

strange stuff.

Film & TV / calling animators for brain picking.
08 August, 2006, 05:52:54 PM
Hello dear sweet neglected boarders, too long have i ignored you, but Lo!  i need advice and thus am back, dear sweetykins's,

I'm looking for volunteers to be brainpicked in the subject areas of animation etc.

I am making a 3 minute animation film, the deadline is the Inverness film festival 4th November. I have NO experience or equipment and the first meeting with the filmaker, funders , judges who selected the films etc waS yesterday. EEEEK !

ive done script, characters, a couple of anamatics, some layouts.

sooo this week i need to buy a PC ( staying within tight budget ),

choose & buy ( or find ) software from CELACTION, BAUHAUS/Mirage; TOONBOOM/Chromacolour, get trained to use it.

suss out storyboarding & do it,

start digging out music score & sounds & decide if i want any voice on it.

anyone point me to examples of storyboarding ? recommend software, volunteer to be harrassed for further info in general, gimmie their expert input ?

Thankyou.

Off Topic / earthquake !
09 June, 2006, 03:39:34 PM
well okay it would have been more exiting if i'd been home n felt it, eldest daughter said it was like a lorry crashing outside, whole house shuddered, banged then creaked.

apparently it was at 12.23, where i was at doctors surgery with mini-bou, maybe the fact that that buildings on reclaimed bog ground ? dunno whereas my house is right on a mini fault thrust plate zone.

other folks reported long low rumbles later on at 2pm.

joly exiting. & my mate is all full of it cos he's splattered across papers & internet about it.

08 May, 2006, 07:05:07 PM

my progs coulda killed someone !

yes, theyre all stacked in wooden boxes in spare room, next to the bed, where my friend stayed not many nights ago, yesterday the stack collapsed with great terrifying force, had anybody been in the bed, their head would have been very crushed & also their ribs..

Off Topic / paranoia/ globalism/ conspiracies
04 March, 2006, 08:33:38 PM
i expect this thread to descend into bolloxs within the  (first) second post.

i was helping mini-bou with homework where shes preparing a speech explaining why all the popular bratz are scum-bags proping up global consumerism & mega-corps & exploiting the whole universe with their orange make-up & stupid trainers.

i was SHOCKED with the extend of scumminess i found;

a)everyday household products that we all use are still experimented on animals.
b) All the big mega-corps who make everything, are heavily funding pres' Bush
c) theres a huge muslim campaign to boycott all these companies, which is fine & dandy, except theres a lotta anti-semetic conspiracy language on these web-sites. "its all run by Jews " etc
d) Tescos etc etc, are spying on us all thru RFID mini nano sized transmitters in their products, some sites are saying that shampoos & stuff have had spy-stuff in it for years.. WTF !  theyre all nuts !

i mean... surely theres better ways to use technology & resources? pay me 3p & I'll tell them exactly what i buy , where & why.

i'd put a link up but theres too many too choose from.
i think i'll stay living in a cave of ignorance.

19 December, 2005, 02:45:06 AM
yeah verily, in my eternal quest to pay the rent i have invested in a button badge maker,

as i type i have a team of oompaloompahs cutting out circles of paper & badging them up..

" faster mini-Bous' FASTER ! or its no crust of bread for yous tonight !"

so for all your 1" / 25mm badge requirements, any design ( within reason ) any numbers.
special price rates for larger numbers;
discount for squaxx;
extra discount for my own personal clique;
extra inflated prices for trolls.

okay hive,

what are your thoughts experiences?
being mature students?
going back to study after... 17 years in this case,
any of you done this & still managed to support a family?
with no money in the coffers,
i'd have to give up secure tenancy & find housing & school for mini-bou.

never mind the actual course i'm sure they'll just laugh me outtof the house.
i looked at the degree show stuff, & jesus was i intimidated, & i really think i can cut a post grad?

how much does it cost to live in full time education for a year ? will they let dogs & kids on campus ?

shit.
