Thanks, Neil!  To tell the truth I'm not really a stranger to huge paintings, I did a mural course years ago and have done quite a few since then. The biggest one I designed was on a five-storey car park - though I left the course before they started painting it. It's still there, but a bit shabby and crumbled these days.
Back then we used to plan everything carefully and grid up the walls; though with that Manchester one I was pretty much making it up as I went along.  I used plumb-lines for verticals and a string attached to blu-tac for perspective lines (the vanishing point is right in the middle of Ian Brown's face, but I just found that out halfway through the mural).
Though I've never done it myself, a good way to plan out murals is to use a projector - just project the image on the wall and trace the lines.

(On the downside, I've now become obsessed with Joy Division and can't get their depressing but really good songs out of my head.)

 Of course, Simply Red, M People, Take That and Frank Sidebottom are also in it, but they're just off-camera.  It's actually a bit hard to reach, it's in a wholesaler's on Westmoreland St called Fabric (beside Cassidy's pub, part of the same building as Blacktie).  In any case I painted the windows of Cassidy's beside it in a comic-stylee, so you can look at that instead  :)

In other news, I'm off to Thailand on Sunday for the foreseeable future; I'll be having a pint in the Courtyard tonight at 8 so feel free to join me!

Ah balls! Can't make it tonight. Hope Thailand works out for you...bet it's not half as cool as Leixlip though

JayzusB.Christ

From what I hear, it nearly, but not quite, matches Leixlip's ladyboy count.  Cheers anyway, Johnny, pity you can't make it but hopefully see you and Lila again before too long

My comic goes on sale tomorrow, first time I have drawn one. I'm really nervous about how it's received. Any other artists remember their first time ;)
