Well a very significant week in the tournament as we enter Round 3 after the seemingly unending Round 2. We're down to the last 128 thrills and from here the quality will step up, the choices start to get harder. But the lovely thing about this round is there is still plenty of room for mis-matches...
Like this one. Titanic ants in what now must be unarguably GFD's greatest work (ahem); Ant Wars having taken out Cal-Hab Justice and then Zancudo in a one-sided local derby. While the short lived Mayflies has only had to buzz past Detonator X and the derided Wireheads. Who will triumph in this clash of the insects?

Mayflies certainly has potential, but it's done relatively little so far. I'm not an Ant Wars fan, but it more or less wins this for me by default.
I'm with IP on this: Ant Wars is alright, but can't really see how it can't be better than Mayflies which has been just two episodes, months apart. And doesn't have any giant ants in it.

Who knows how or if Mayflies will develop, but for now it's Ant Wars.

Both insects but not a fair fight as Mayflies has lots of potential but it's all potential while Ant Wars has that sweet nostalgia hit.

After worrying this Round was going to be a puzzler with every heat, it's an easy win for Ant Wars.
Like someone said, there are no giant ants in Mayflies, Grennie should look into that.

Mayflies might well turn out to be the best thing that ever comes out of Regened, but given there have only been two episodes so far, it's far too early to say that.
Ant Wars is far from my favourite, but I only read it a few years back so it has no nostalgia factor for me. But it's got enough for my vote here.

What everybody else says - Mayflies is good (I'd even put it above alright) but it's only had a few episodes and is up against the full-length tale of Ant Wars.
p.s. also I'm with Conrad on this one - Anteater is the main character in Ant Wars in the same way that Dennis Dun's Wang Chi is the protagonist of Big Trouble in Little China (Jack Burton just thinks he's the main character).
It might be round 3 but it's Phase IV.... Ant wars!

I'm a bit tendered this morning after a night out with work, a little tired and hungover. So I'd appreciate if you imagined this wrap up was done in the style of a preacher testifying. If you could make it sharp and witty I'd appreciate it. Maybe add a slightly sinister edge to the whole things. Then proclaim Ant War's GFD's best work for 2000ad.
