I'm now only missing 2312 (Christmas Prog).

This week 2310, 2311 and Meg 451 all appeared.

A word for Rebellion here....we've had the Covid mess and they never missed a beat, now we've had the strike chaos and us print subscribers have access to the digital editions....so I won't miss my Christmas Prog "fix".

They've done really well here despite the issues being entirely outside their control. Bravo!

Controversially I'll say I slightly preferred the Prog to the Meg. The tongue in cheek, chaotic nature of the former suited the provided more scope for fun and invention, while the serial form of the latter meant at times it read like a Strontium Dog tale (which is no bad thing but perhaps not the order of the day). Not having read any Diamond Dogs it was nice to see James Peaty serving up something so much better than Skip Tracer.

Anyway, shocking as they were, the contents of the Meg pale into insignificance compared to those of the floppy. I still can't quite get my head around the idea that dozens (scores? Hundreds?) of the prog's most iconic layouts were originally sketched by Robin Smith in layout form. Mind blown.

(My cover was on the right way, BTW)
I have cover envy!

I enjoyed the prog and the artists chosen to do the old school strips really did them justice. Not really one for buying the prog these days but his lured me back and next weeks is looking good.
Welcome back to the fold!

The Prog has been on fine form a while, well worth it in my view.

Chimpsky is just a masterclass. Brilliant stuff.
Hershey is also great...lovely dialogue and incredible art.
Enemy Earth, I think I need to re-read the first story.
Dredd...a very enjoyable one and done.
Future Shock was nicely executed if unremarkable.

A top notch prog to start the new run.

This was a wonderful surprise and it's produced to a very high standard.

Enjoyed reading it and it's also a brilliant tribute to the great man.

Zombies aren't really my thing but this was brilliantly done and great fun throughout.

Made a lovely change from the norm as well. Fantastic prog!

Another short post just to add to the Lawless worship.

I mean, there are great thrills in abundance, but Lawless somehow transcends even the best of the best for me. Everything about it is so deftly constructed, every character is so believable and distinct, every setting seems like it's real, it envelops you in its world like nothing I've ever read.

No other artist or letterer could do it justice either, its style is so definitive and distinctive, it's such a creative "coming together". The whole team make it look effortless, I'm sure it's far from that.

How it feels so fresh after running as long as it has is astounding.

It's just incredible and it leaves me wanting more...lots more...every single time!

I can't praise the team behind it enough. The Meg is worth the money just for this!

And yes, collect the lot to date and I'll buy it.

Massive price 'rise' on this issue.  I am waiting for the other issues 338 onwards, but the bundled reprint has shrunk in szie and is only 12 pages.

It is more like an insert than the previous reprints., something that would have been a free promotional insert 30-40 years ago.

I have never considered the reprints worth having - I have a complete set - but this seems like a near phase out unless it is reversed in future issues.
Hawk The Slayer isn't reprint - it's new material.

Never seen the film, enjoying the comic though!
Same here. I'd never even heard of the film but that doesn't impact on enjoying this, not one bit.

In fact the recap chapter at the start adds something to the experience because even without seeing it, you understand there's a back story to it.

I've got to mention Lawless. Again.

There are barely words for how good this strip is. Worth the entire cost of the Meg just on its own.

So confident is Lawless now, that it can run an entire episode without its lead character and it still doesn't miss a beat. Just shows how strongly the town and its wide range of characters has been built over the years.

And the artwork is just sublime.

It's the best thing in the Meg and Prog in recent times and I simply can't praise it highly enough.

There are great strips in both publications -and then there is Lawless, in a class of its own.

Lawless made me feel old, in the sense I don't remember how we got to this point. And I really love this strip. When did Lawson quit? I assume this will eventually shift back to the status quo, mind, when the SJS march about the place shooting everyone.

At the end of the double-length musical extravaganza...

I rate that as one of the most incredible things the Meg or Prog has ever published.
It's brilliant on its own, but when combined with the actual songs on Soundcloud, it reaches new heights of awesomeness.

I heartily recommend anyone who hasn't yet done so to read or re-read it alongside the soundtrack:

A warning....the songs are real earworms! You'll find yourself humming them for weeks.

I love the Regened debates!

What worked for us as kids isn't necessarily what will work for kids today...and Regened is aimed at them!

I'm lucky I guess, insofar as I still enjoy the Regened progs very much, despite being oooolllldddd, but over and above that it's vital the progs attract a new audience to replace us old farts when we expire. That is just a fact of life, and I'd support Tharg trying to do that even I didn't like the material. (But I do!)

What a fantastic cover. The depiction of Sensitive Klegg, both on the cover and in the strip, is absolutely perfect.

I'm 53 and I think Pandora Perfect is awesome.

There's a place in the main prog for stories like that.
Not everything has to be all dark and serious.

Yes this was a good special and if you have children I can recommend it
I don't have children and never will.

But that isn't going to stop me! I'm taking out a subscription to this.

Obviously, it's for research purposes / showing support for the concept, and nothing at all to do with the fact that I find this type of humour as funny now as I did when I was 8 years old.
