Books & Comics / What's your current comics pull list?
18 November, 2023, 04:02:50 PM
Soo... apart from Tooth and the Megazine what's on your current comic pull list?
I avoid men in tights and most shouty stuff.

So for me its currently its:

Ribbon Queen by Garth Ennis

Damn them all! Si Spurrier

Gone by Jock

Hellblazer Si Spurrier

Alien by Declan Shalvey

and the truly wonderful Hexagon Bridge by Richard Blake.

Only six, and all but one a limited series.

Books & Comics / Marvel Comics' Alien
21 October, 2022, 01:41:21 PM

Marvel Comics' Alien

Anyone else getting this? The first couple of story arcs were fine: on-board research station attacked by anti-corp activists, a religious cult world as a practice run for weaponised xenomorph, but the latest series reads like its been written by a fourteen year old Fantastic Four fan. One who hasn't seen the films or looked at Giger's original artwork. The characters are straight out of Small Soldiers but without the subtlety and pathos, while the dialogue is like an AI's cut and paste attempt at storytelling. The xenomorphs are easily dispatched by our heroes and they even meet (yawn) a group of young hip survivors.

No, no I didn't like it now you ask...

RELEASED 4 MONTHS FROM NOW

The blurb:

One of the major highlights of the controversial 1970s comic, Action, Major Kurt Hellman is a Panzer commander in the 1940 German invasion of Belgium. But this man is no Nazi - he avoids taking life wherever possible, all while facing foes without and treachery within!

Collected for the first time, and from the very beginning, this groundbreaking series of thrilling combat is written by Gerry Finley-Day (Rogue Trooper) and drawn by Mike Dorey (Ro-Busters)

Megazine / Megazine 432 Bite me Creep"
17 May, 2021, 12:30:21 PM
Well that was nice, the Meg popped onto my doorstep on Saturday, a first for a long time, maybe a return to precovid deliveries?

A good read, Dredd a fine slice of MC1 madness and Devlin excellent fun, who'd have thought a Demon Dildo would take up so much of the Megazine?

The other tales aren't really to my liking but that's the way of these things
