tricky's new album 'false idols' is really good - especially the song 'nothing's changed' which is a reprisal to the song 'she makes me want to die', from his 1996 album per-millenium tension

Good manners & bad breath get you nowhere

Cool? I now know why the word was invented. Coming back from the canteen I nearly dropped me tea and shat me heart out when I saw the silhouette at the door. He's the nicest, coolest bastard I've ever met. SUPERCOOL. Can't believe he's 60 and has prostate cancer. He looks funkin' great.

As the chemo ate away at him, the dreads just seemed to get bigger and bigger. Cancer aside, he makes a pretty good advert for living a life dedicated to filling your body and ravaging your brain with as many illegal substances as possible - see also Robert Downey Jr and Johnny Depp. Now you're pals you should ask him if he's looking at filling Chic's vacant bass player position, and get practicing.

My days playing bass are behind me, besides, I think you need 'black' hands to manage Edwards 'chucking' technique so it doesn't sound like porridge.

Sorry to hear that; I hope your decision wasn't related to you breaking your arm a while ago. Have you thought about learning a real musical instrument, now you have more time on your hands?

Happily, it was only bruised tendons. I'd stopped playing before that and did play guitar for about 20 years.

Having seen Rush live in Glasgow last week and been mightily impressed (three hour set! Three drum solos! Bloody loud!), am currently digging into their most recent album, 'Clockwork Angels'. Probably the best thing they've done since the early 80s. 'The Wreckers' is a damnably catchy little number, and 'The Anarchist' has some deliciously Maiden-like inflections. Top notch.

I saw them at the O2. Awesome band, they never disappoint.
Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side.

This evening I listened to two MC5 albums which weren't Kick Out the Jams. I really wouldn't recommend following my example.
We never really die.

Couldn't disagree more. Back in the USA is one of my favourite albums of all time (and Lemmy's if that means anything). Not saying it's got the same appeal as Kick Out the Jams I just love it.

Been listening to a lot of Arab Strap over the last couple of weeks. This was prompted by a drunken evening round at my mate's flat when I insisted on making him listen to I Saw You over and over again. How can you go wrong with lyrics and ryhmes like these?

Quote from: Aidan MoffatAnd I was far too drunk so an approach was out the question,
But this guy Stuart had sent us tickets to see his band, Belle & Sebastian.
We went along thoroughly drunk, stopped for a post-gig hello,
And I think the girl that I was looking for is friends with the girl that plays the cello.
We never really die.

If you enjoy shagging your robot butler to Daft Punk, you'll love riding your Tron bike to work with the strains of Gesaffelstein ringing in your ears. Warning: that fantastically Germanic video contains pert, naked body parts, AR-15s and luxury autos - all of which are pornographic in their own ways.

I'm listening to Masters Of Reality, and so should you.
