Title: Judge Cromwell
Post by: lwhitehead on 12 December, 2019, 05:24:18 PM
Hi this is my idea for an Official British Judge for 2000ad, if was allowed to create for Judge Dread setting,

Judge Cromwell is a London Street Judge like Dread he is a for life a Street Judge, he is a blood desendent of Oliver Cromwell and his Ghost does protect him from time to time.

Like Dread I'm planning to him age as well, but he will start his role as a Street Judge in London.

The last bit of the post (aging) makes it sound like something's going ahead somewhere, but the first part sounds like the OP is just sharing a cool idea they had:

Not for a Fanzine, which I don't know of any,

I would like to official create this character for this comic, the UK in Judge Dread's setting must have street Judges?.

I guess I have to ask the question: Are you familiar with the Brit-cit judges?  Quite a few strips have appeared in recent years that have included the street judges albeit with a strong focus on the PSI judges more recently.  The suspected death of Dredd a couple of years back was at the hands of Brit-cit judges(Lion's Den 1978 - 1985).  Not to mention the first appearance with Atlantis back in the 400's with McCarthy's amazing artwork.

Also, if you want to work for Tharg you have to start 'at the bottom', so to speak, with Future Shocks before you get anywhere near a strip of your own. Continue developing the idea, by all means, but get those FS scripts flowing. 👍

and as for fanzines - there are quite a few these days, all offering their own unique blend of thrills.

For core 2000 AD stylings - you need to be reading Zarjaz:-

However if you would rather just focus on the world of the Strontium Dog you need Dogbreath:-
https://www.futurequake.co.uk/dogbreath/ (https://www.futurequake.co.uk/dogbreath/)

Then if you want your Thrills to focus on Mega-City One and the judges therein you want Sector 13:-
https://www.boxofrainmag.co.uk/sector-13/ (https://www.boxofrainmag.co.uk/sector-13/)

Of course you need to remember that all of these comics have their own submission processes but all will show you the type of standard you need to aim for with your writing.
