General / Do comics suck?
01 April, 2006, 03:43:04 PM
I was recently reading a comics news website and saw a banner for t-shirts that proclaim 'COMICS DON'T SUCK' and I was advised to wear it proudly. Now it's always been my experience that if you have to express a seemingly understood truth or assumed fact then the opposite must be true. For example, when I worked at Kinkos the slogan at the time was: 'done right. on time. the first time.' or something like that. And of course, most jobs were completed incorrectly the third time a day late and generally with great contempt on the part of the staff.

So, do comics suck? Not necessarily in priciple but in practice.

(I would like to say that I don't include 2000AD in this clustering because I'm pretty sure this site and shirt promotion were geared to American comics exclusively, but I know many of the boarders read other titles. Or don't, thus answering yes.)

General / 3 Days!!
27 February, 2006, 10:59:02 AM
I haven't actually got a prog since I moved out to California almost a year ago, it's just not worth having to drive to a whole different store that I can only get comics at to only by one comic that comes in pretty irregular anyway. So when I saw the return of the ABC warriors and Flint's work on them, I had to get a subscription. Which arrived three days after the release date! When I would get them at the shop they would be a month behind and missing some progs. Anyway, I just thought I'd throw that out there. Seriously, 3 days? to the states?

General / Comic Con San Diego
13 July, 2005, 12:00:39 AM
I guess this Saturday I'm going to the comic con with work, so I was wondering, it is ComicCon International, so is anyone here going? I don't recall any 2000AD stuff last year, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Off Topic / Pre-emptive apologies for ranting...
12 July, 2005, 02:31:47 AM
So last week after the bombings, I obviously thought of the boarders I had met here and the ones I keep contact with. After contacting them to make sure they were OK, I felt like, as a Muslim, I should somehow say something. Apparantly, some members of the Islamic community feel like it's our responsibility to condemn these crazies. I guess, I couldn't make up my mind. First, if you have to apologize or condemn these people, as members of your community, then by default they are Muslims. Which I don't believe they are. There's a line in Fight Club that goes 'shoving feathers up your ass doesn't make you a chicken'. I think the reverse is also true. As soon as you act in the opposite manner of a groups expressed desires and principles you forfeit your membership to that group. I would no sooner apologize for these guys as I would Timothy Mcvay (sp?) since I'm white and american. Crazy is just crazy, no matter how you dress it up.

I am ofcouse, sorry for what happened and wish everyone well over there. But as a compassionate human not as a Muslim.

Lastly, I would just like to say how the views I have read expressed here have restored my faith in humanity. In that, I didn't even need to address it, since the majority of you knew better. On a side note, every religion, Islam included, is compiled of people. Until that changes, these religions will have the same flaws as people. Some complain of hypocrasy, lies, bad spelling, etc. These are flaws of people, all types of people. Not indicitive of any religion.

Thanks...

Help! / Tek-Judges
22 March, 2005, 05:43:50 AM
OK, so in the interest of pushing my luck, can I now get some help with a tek-judge image? All my stuff is in storage at the moment, so I can't reference my progs and google/search has shown nada. I'm thinking of Flints very excellent versions of Tek-judges but want to make sure I get the head gear right.

Puh-lease!!!!

Off Topic / Questions or queries?
17 March, 2005, 07:13:33 AM
I recently bought a mag printed in the UK, on the back it listed a number for 'questions or queries'. Not since Bladerunner have I heard anyone use the word 'query'. My father believes there is no difference between the two, to which I replied that there must be a difference and that we are too thick skulled yanks to understand the difference. So, what is the difference? Do english chaps scoff at someone if they say they have a question when they actually have a query?

Help! / Uranium city judges
16 March, 2005, 01:26:05 AM
I have just recently being given a script by a wonderful writer which includes a Uranium City Judge. While I was given a pretty detailed discription, I was wondering if anyone could direct me to some pics or have anything to add. (this site search turned up nada). Thanks.

Creative Common / Submission Cover Letter
08 March, 2005, 12:01:38 PM
I'm going to take a go at submitting some work, with the focal company being 2000AD. I have no real idea what to put in the cover letter. They see so many of these, I don't know if it will even matter, but I don't want to come off like a, that's right, twat. (that's twice now for you keeping track)

Any ideas?

General / Off topic, too bad.
16 February, 2005, 07:30:03 AM
I was swamped at the end of the year, and fell out of the boards. I've recently checked back to find all this 'off-topic' debate. If it wasn't for 'off-topic' I wouldn't have been able to converse with the people I had. I really enjoyed getting to know the board members I have, and the conversations. Being American, with the progs coming out so late over here, I would have been completly left out.

Of course, this is a 2000ad board, but there's more to people than this and surely we would all want to know more about the people who share our hobbies/interests.

I don't really know what happened or what's going on but it's too bad, whatever it is.

Off Topic / what happened while I was away?

I came back from 'holiday' to find that Max is a skinhead and anti-american sentiment has come back in the form of trying to confuse us even more than we are!

Off Topic / Help a brother out.
09 November, 2004, 08:32:00 PM
Thanks to Sil, I've got a comic book at a print on demand website. It's a litle more pricey than an average comic, but all proceeds go to a worthy cause. Me. You also get rare, never before seen work, oooooh.

Hey, this character has been kinda popular, and I noticed there's alot of artists or dabblers on this board. So I thought if everyone would do a sketch of this character, and then I'd have a gallery with different interpretations from a variety of people and hopefully around the world. I think it would be really cool, even if they weren't 'professional' types. (I.E. one of the kids at the group home I work at draws, and I'm having him do one.)

The point is the variety, not the character, so maybe we should do another that everyone decides on?

So if you want to, post up. e-mail name, age and image to me.  Also, to motivate, I put this in the 'competition' section, even though it's not really. But, you all could help me pick winners and suggest prizes, that'd be cool.

Today, (yesterday for you), is the day. Today will decide much of the future.  Wish me luck, and if Bush wins, does anyone have a couch I can crash on for the next four years?

Help! / Blue guys with guns
30 October, 2004, 05:32:41 PM
Don't ask why, but I really have a hankering for the Rogue and that world. I'm looking to get some back progs or GN. Cinnabar, Mercy heights and crucible. None of which my store can order or are on this site store. Can anyone tell me if there are GN of these stories or do I need to order back progs? I have War machine, what other original Rogue/Friday is mandatory reading?

Off Topic / How far is too far.
29 October, 2004, 09:02:27 PM
In another thread the topic of conflict and it's subject matter came up. It got me thinking about some of the dumb things I conflicted over people with as a kid. For example, as a kid we argued over whose shoes are better and then we grew up and argued over whose god is better.

So my question is two-fold:

1) What is the most trivial thing that people had ever held against you?

2) When do you decide that you can no longer interact with some one. When does their opinions, interests or beliefs just become too much and you draw the line?

Off Topic / Because Futurequack! said so.
28 October, 2004, 08:49:45 PM
Futurequack had made some comments about getting a blog and I've noticed alot of other people have them, so I went and got one. If you want to check it out, that'd be cool. I'm not really sure what to do with it, so any suggestions would be great.

This is the next page for jahiliyah, I haven't worked with these characters or in this style for a while so I thought I'd see what you all thought before I posted it to my site. Also, I wanted to practice posting images.
