Very nice, thought History Of Violence was a great adaptation but when it ended I was gutted because based on the comic I thought I had at least another hour of film to go! Always wondered, is the Wagner pronounced Vagner? Or is that just a dumb notion?

AHOV was, in effect, a totally different film. Tom's background was utterly changed, as was the character "behind" everything, and the shocking twist of the novel itself was removed entirely. To some extent, this was a good thing: it's rare that I see a fairly straight comic-book adaptation and don't know what's coming next. However, Wagner's story is stronger?more powerful?so it's strange that Cronenberg's version is effectively a watered down recreation, what with the type of film he usually creates.

I've also always wondered if it was pronounced Vagner or not.

Definately Wagner with a W.
