Any more classic songs that you feel have been ruined? Yes I know that both Jimmy Page and Ozzy Osbourne were involved with those songs above. That still doesn't make it right though.

Oasis I Am The Walrus
Going by the date I would have been around ten when I first saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9DnjNfxg_A
performance. I would have liked Oasis at the time, then my older brother played me the original and it was the start of me going right off them. Walrus has been butchered by Jim Carrey and I believe Russel Brand since (with Oasis ruining Bowie's Heroes and Beatles' Helter Skelter somewhere in between) but this track will probably always be my first memory of hearing a terrible cover- even if I had never heard the original beforehand.
Before I sign out- anybody planning on posting Bowie and Jagger's Dancing In The Street should be warned I will take thee down Liam Neeson 'Taken' style. I absolutely loved that song as a youngster- mostly down to the video if I recall- and when it pops up on something every couple of years I can't help but cheer in a manner which I'm not even sure could be described as being ironic.

We were obsessed with that video when we were teens for whatever reason. It's just so silly. SO SILLY.

There are so many terrible covers but this one always gets my dander up - and I HATED that Kid Rock Skynyrd song where he just lazily stripped out the melody of Sweet Home Alabama and sang over it. Ugh.

Thanks to Bill Hicks, I will never be able to hear Behind Blue Eyes without singing along about a dustbin in Shaftesbury.

Oh thank you very much, CFM- thanks to you, I've now had Limp Bizkit playing on my laptop speakers! For all future posters to this thread, the polite thing to do may be to include a warning in your message...

I thought if I just said it people would be like "oh I don't remember that being that awful it's just a fairly straightforward cover of it" but then you click through and Fred Durst's face is there and then he just starts making out with Halle Berry and you're like I know this was a decade ago now but ...

HOW DID WE GET TO THAT POINT.

What got me was the very start of the video. I have the impression we're supposed to think something along the lines of Oooh, sexy Durst...

This one is inexplicably popular as muzak.  Many's the the time I've paused  to wonder why:
"..Caught somewhere between a boy and man/
She was seventeen and she was far from in-between"
...is playing on continuous loop in a toy shop and all I can conclude is that someone upstream thinks it's the far superior original.

It is sad when a song begins like this...

then turns into this...

but then is warped into this...

:'(

And they are repeat offenders!

Whatever happened to Rico, Dolman and Cadet Paris? I'm sooo out of the loop.

Remember to squeeze your arse cheeks tight during this, otherwise you might prolapse. Dylan shat all over that great Hendrix song with similarly strained vocals and odd phrasing.

That is my pet peeve with buskers of today. They have watched so much X Factor that they believe that you can only impart feeling and gravitas by "strained vocals and odd phrasing." I makes me so mad. Just bloody sing the song! If people recognise it they will give you money.

Seeing a post mentioning Dylan and strained vocals immediately brought the Guns N Roses cover of Knockin' On Heaven's Door to mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tmc8rJgxUI
Use Your Illusion 2 was actually the first album I ever purchased (I was too young to see Terminator 2 on the pictures but I could make up for it by buying the album with a song from the soundtrack on it) and although I liked the album, this song stood out for all the wrong reasons.

Some quite dreadful covers featured so far, but FFS !!  Sauchie........a little warning that it was Peter Gabriel murdering We Could be Heroes,  would have been helpful mate ! ....That's the second time I've listened to that f*****g C**p !! .......
I think you posted it somewhere else as well......And to be honest,  hearing it once was bad enough,  but TWICE.... :'(

... with hoo-li-ga-aa-ns. Hicks knew a bad cover version when he heard it: y'all don't see how fake that is? Well, gee Bill, he won a grammy ...

Telly used it at the weekend as muzak for one of their end of season English Premiership montages. If I have to suffer, you all have to suffer.
