New Rogue Trooper? Surely you mean Bad Company?

I know about Bad Company, but I thought I'd read a recent post on the forum that an artist had mentioned on their blog that they were working on Rogue Trooper.

It was mentioned on the previous page of this thread:

QuoteOn June 24, 2000 AD is putting out the latest in their line of 48-page seasonal anthologies, and as you might expect, the Summer Special is set to feature all the usual suspects that you get in the weekly prog. There's a Judge Dredd story, of course and Rogue Trooper makes an appearance,

Judge Dredd: Let's Go To Work by Mike Carroll & Jake Lynch
Rogue Trooper: Death of a Demon by Guy Adams & Darren Douglas
Ace Trucking Co.: Star's Truck by Eddie Robson & Nick Dyer
Survival Geeks: Movie Night by Gordon Rennie, Emma Beeby & Neil Googe
Robo-Hunter: Iron Sam by Alec Worley & Mark Simmons
Future Shocks: Dust by Gary Blatchford & John Higgins

AL EWING - GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN:

"Welcome to Battleworld -- where, in what's left of Mondo-City One, Boss Cage is the law!

The fascist futuropolis of Mondo City, originally invented by Jeff Parker, which is an analogue for a certain sci-fi mega-city I've written about in the past, one that British comic readers -- and fans of cool, cult sci-fi movies -- will be very familiar with. It's ruled over by the Bosses, who are judge, jury and executioner. Toughest of them all is Boss Cage, aging but still undefeatable clone of Luke Cage's grandson Danny.

It's no secret to anyone that I'm a huge fan of Judge Dredd. I've worked on the strip many times -- in fact, I have a Dredd story running in the Judge Dredd Megazine right now. So naturally, I would heartily recommend that anyone interested in this story or in good comics in general picks up some Dredd. Right now! If you've not read Dredd, particularly the Wagner Dredd, you're missing out on some of the very best sci-fi satire/action/drama ever written."

Check out an exclusive first look at Alan Davis and colorist Jordie Bellaire's cover for Captain Britain and the Mighty Defenders #1 below, and look for the series in comic-book stores this July http://www.blastr.com/2015-3-24/exclusive-captain-britain-and-mighty-defenders-join-marvels-secret-wars

Broadcasters have no way of knowing what you're watching on telly.

Is this not more a hang-over from the analogue days?  I know that even before the digital switchover Sky were able to release very exact numbers of viewers using their digital boxes, I'd assume it's the same across the board these days?

2/3 homes watch telly on freeview boxes & they don't send data back to the broadcaster.

Looking at Sky data only tells you what folk who can afford to pay for Sky watch. Sky's highest rated show ever was watched by less than half the number of viewers as a cooking show on BBC1 at the same time and their biggest channel (Sky 1) averages an audience share of less than 1%: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-32299006

Got to say, I'm a bit put out by the muted response this has been getting across the board

Almost every review says it's fun and that the bits that work work well but very few say it's actually a good film. One for the fans rather than something that's going to convert casual viewers.

Do we need another Dark Knight ?

Given the obviously poor state of Miller's health and the fact he lives in a country where the quality of care available to you depends on the size of your wallet, I'd say Frank Miller and his family probably need another Dark Knight quite badly.

The only bits of the latest Superman/Batman film anyone will think are any good will be the bits which rip-off The Dark Knight Returns and the last decade of ludicrously lucrative Batman films have been largely based on Miller's work, so the fact he hasn't made a penny from them is shameful.

That his fellow creators appear willing to help him out is laudable and I'll buy the book when it comes out in the (probably forlorn) hope that DC cut Miller a fair share of the proceeds. His hard boiled schtick isn't my favourite thing in the world but the art and storytelling in the comics Miller was producing in the 80s and 90s were among the best ever.

I'm sure Leto will be fine, but I'm not sure why The Joker would tattoo himself with imagery taken directly from DC comic books. Do DC comics exist in the DC universe, or do the residents of Metropolis and Gotham all read Tales Of The Black Freighter?

I will watch again to show support!

Broadcasters have no way of knowing what you're watching on telly. Ratings are a best guess based on asking a few hundred folk what they watched last night, so feel free to catch up on that box set of documentaries about Czech political history instead.

Yes. They spend the movie actively trying to kill civilians. This is in no way a typo cause by submitting a review at 4am...

"there is always an awareness from the Avengers that there is a civilian population and that their first responsibility is not keep them from harm"?!?

I really like the idea anyway, and think it could be a real advantage of these side films- leave the grand, hero's-journey space-wizards and laser-swords stuff for the main films and try something a bit different in the side projects.

Kinda what Marvel seem to be doing with films like the second Captain America, where you basically import the characters and kit into the format of a previously successful film or genre (Parallax View/3 Days of the Condor). Fair enough if Star Wars wants to give that a try since Guardians of the Galaxy is Star Wars with Marvel characters.

Nic Cage Superman is plenty colourful and shiny. You know how when toy companies run out of ideas for new figures they just bash out transparent versions of existing characters and call them the holodeck series or something? The Burton film included those pointless variants IN THE ACTUAL FILM.

New trailer for documentary on the aborted Burton/Cage SUPERMAN REBORN features lots of costume test footage: https://youtu.be/GkRxXicAuYo

... and here's Kevin Smith talking about his involvement in it: https://youtu.be/hUwkqeI7XWk

I also really hope they keep the narrative simple and propulsive

It's being written and directed by the guy who made Mission Impossible 3 and Star Trek: Into Darkness.

And if those final seconds did not give you a big shit eating grin, I suspect you must be dead inside!
Call me dead inside, but I eye-rolled like a mo-fo.
Ha. The Han & Chewie reveal was basically the only bit I didn't like!

The line was awful but Han's still cool and the way Ford uses his voice in that role opens up a direct route to the part of my brain that's still four years old. I felt the same way about seeing and hearing him play Indiana Jones again in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull but then the rest of the film was rubbish. I expect similar results here!

I was worried old Han Solo would be embarrassing, but he's cool as f***. I can't listen to him talking to Chewie without thinking of Ford's Jimmy Fallon appearance though https://youtu.be/7T0vs9gYydo
