I know, it's really frustrating working with someone who's process makes no sense but it's not worth getting worked up over. If you can't make improvements there find something else to put your energy into. That whole thing about you can't control people but you can can control how you react to them. Maybe make it a long term goal ?

But you have to.

I'm not saying that you'll never meet someone and get your happily ever after, I genuinely wish that you, but it may not be on the cards for a while. In the meantime you can work on building a life for yourself that you are happy with and when you finally meet someone you'll have a lot to offer them.

What are women looking for? At the most basic level, women are looking for men that can take care of themselves so a man that can cook, cleans his house and takes care of himself (showers daily and wears clean well fitted clothes).

If you only focused on these three things you may start to feel better about yourself and your life and you can figure out the next bit when you're ready.

Not enjoying things you used to is a symptom of depression so don't worry you will enjoy your old hobbies again.

The fact that you are cleaning at all and are now back in a workplace setting is huge progress on where you were a few months back so although things seem overwhelming you actually are making progress.

It may seem like you're getting nowhere (with the cleaning) but even twenty to thirty minutes a day will lead to a huge improvement over time - keep it up!

Re: the work issue: try not to get hyper focused on this, ultimately it's just stressing you out and you have enough on your plate.

It's worrying to hear you say you see no way forward. I think maybe in the past you had an idea about what a successful future meant to you and now you're here in the future and things haven't worked out as planned. Instead of accepting this as some sort of failure on your part maybe try re-imagining your idea of success. As Picard said you can do everything right and still fail - this is not weakness; this is life. What kind of life can you imagine for yourself where you are alone but content?

Next episode of The Boys is the Herogasm episode.

Excited and dreading it in equal measure.

Exited because it was such a shocking moment in the books but dreading it because God only knows what will happen in it.

I wonder if they will stay true to the comics and Hughie will get Black Noir's finger up the bum?

It's a spinoff from the 2nd Suicide Squad movie which is also called the Suicide Squad and I don't understand the difference.

You don't get to make that decision for other people.

It sounds like you're feeling overwhelmed at the moment. Try to practice kindness and patience towards yourself.

And there's no right thing to say in these circumstances so don't beat yourself up kiddo!

Alien Nation (1986?)

Stands up surprisingly well. It's like District 9 before District 9. Well worth a rewatch if you haven't seen recently or a watch full stop if you've never seen. Dare I say forgotten sci fi classic. Well maybe not on this forum.

The Northman

The utterly unsubtle (I assume deliberately) illusion to Hamlet, mean you pretty much know where this is going and however much you dress up an action revenge thriller with lush cinematography , nice Viking history bits, I assume pretty accurate, certainly enough to fool my layman Viking knowledge and cooool nordic mythology, its still an action revenge thriller. Throwing some shakespearn references doesn't change that at all.

I saw this yesterday and while I would recommend it it's not without it's flaws. I'm sure I saw the trailer but it was not evident to me before going what it was about. After the opening scene I was like 'Oh no it's Hamlet'.  Not that I'd have a problem with Viking Hamlet but I was expecting something different. It's quite long as well for such a simple story but yes visually stunning.

I also thought it suffered from some miscasting. I did not like Nicole Kidman and Anya Taylor- Joy's attempt at a Russian accent was dreadful and distracting. Similarly I don't think that Alexander Skarsgard can act. While you might think that his monotone emotionless delivery is appropriate for this role - he is the same in everything. When he's not shouting angrily his performance lacks any nuance or depth.

But overall it's absolutely worth a watch!

That's great news about the colonoscopy! I'm glad to hear you won't have to go through that again.

Depression is such a universal experience and yet so unique for each person who experiences it.

If I recall correctly you don't want to go down the medication route and your local NHS doesn't provide good support services for mental health issues.

What would help?

Really liked it but it was too long.

Of course it's going to be a trilogy so I guess this dealt with Batman as Vengeance and then next will be him becoming Justice.

Just so hard to look at Batman in a modern setting and find him relevant. The crux of this movie was that he was so busy being Batman he forgot to Bruce Wayne and that allowed the criminals to make off with the billon dollar fund his Dad his set up save the city; his real legacy.

As a billionaire he could solve more of Gotham's problems by investing in education and after schools programmes, free college and childcare, better sex education and free healthcare, public works programmes and social assistance for the mentally ill and homeless than beating up criminals one at a time. He's out beating up street gangs when the real criminals are taking the city for millions and getting away with it.

That final scene where he's top of the roof just looks so bizarre. Imagine being evacuated in a crisis by a guy dressed up as a bat?? It just was so strange when the rest of the movie was somewhat realistic; well stayed true to its own logic.

I hope they grapple these issues in the sequels and update Batman for then modern world.

Dark Waters on Netflix.

A solid legal drama about how the DuPont Corporation poisoned every single person on the planet.

They are finding that shit in the placenta of unborn babies and when they needed to run tests on blood that was uncontaminated with that stuff they needed to use blood taken from US army soldiers during the Korean War**.
