Good evening and happy Halloween squaxx! Munstroid here with a seasonal offer.

I was just checking some books I've got in a pile* and noticed... I've purchased The Thirteenth Floor (Rebellion paperback collection) twice. And judging by the discount sticker on the front, it was at Forbidden Planet, likely during one of those Souther meetups both times. That's usually when I go there.

Not intended as a criticism of the contents, mind. I'm just getting forgetful in my old age. I swear, when I shake my large melon I hear a rattling sound. Reckon I'd loose the whole noggin if it wasn't bolted on.

I was thinking of selling a copy, but you know what? Discovering  my brain-dead mishap the day before Halloween,** is so fascinating to me*** . If you'd like the copy and you don't mind covering the postage, PM me your address and it's yours.

*I was checking my copies of American Vampire so I didn't double-buy copies in the recent Halloween Comixology sale... and the irony has just hit me.

I know it's not comic related, (actually you can read comics on it but it's not good for that) but thought this might be of interest here.

I'm selling one of my Amazon kindles.

That makes it look like I have several.  I have two. Three if you include the iPad using the app, but I'm not selling that! 😆 (Now that's a very nice comics reader.)

Games / Emulation is the Situation

As I own a PS2, a PS3 and a laptop, I'm seriously considering selling my PS2.* Since my version of the PS3 (the super-slim. Yes they did an even slimmer version of their slim) is not backwardly compatible with PS2 games, and there are some I'd like to keep, I've been thinking of going the PCSX2 emulator route, essentially turning my laptop into a virtual PS2.

It's not a top range laptop, but it's far newer than the console, so I reckon it should handle it all right.

Trouble is, further investigation suggests it will be a right fiddly kerfuffle! Apparently the emulator isn't enough. I've got to extract the bios from my PS2 and install it. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done as to utilise the software that extracts the bios, I have to make the PS2 'homebrew'. ( I think that means, reconfigure the console so it will accept software not from Sony and commercial games companies).

I'll admit, I'm strongly tempted to just download a bios from the internet. Trouble is, that's illegal. It's not something I'd feel too guilty about since I bought the original console and the games, so I'm hardly conning Sony out of money. But I'd prefer to do things the legitimate route if I can.

So, the purpose of the thread: have any of you gone the PS2 emulator route?

How did you find the process? Any advice appreciated, but I appreciate this is primarily a comic book forum and there are other places I can find that information. (I have investigated although the job looks like a real headache.)

How did the games perform? Did they perform?

If you'd like to chat about your experiences with other emulators too, feel free to do that here too.


 * More to free space rather than for the money, as I doubt I'll get much for it. Also thinking of getting a PS4 pro at some point, or maybe that new XBox when it comes out**, bit that will probably be a while yet.

** I feel more inclined to Sony than Microsoft, even when the latter produce better consoles. This new full 4K job does seem something special though.

Hi,

I'm moving house soon, and so I figured I might as well get rid of my paper progs. (I know, I know...)  I tend to get them digitally now, and it's unlikely i'll read through these. If there are any stories I want, I will likely get the collection at some point.

Anyway,  I'm a relative newbie, and have a lot in digital now so my collection isn't all that big, or old, (back 8 or 9 years or so) but I'm offering them for free. I just ask you pay the postage or collect them.

I'd prefer to get rid of them all at once, since I've for around 3 weeks to move, but I'd consider breaking them up.

The collection is:

2000 AD issues:

1617 - 1639
1647 - 1673
1684 - 1702
1705 - 1707
1715 - 1716
1718 -1739
1771 - 1774
1803

Christmas progs: 2008 - 2011.

There might be minor creasing , tears etc. I  stored them loose in boxes, not on Bristol board or anything like that.

I'm not sure how some of those gaps came about, and possibly they'll be plugged if I find any more lying about, in which case i'll update accordingly.

I've a few Megs and other comics I will probably add to the list later.

If I receive no requests here within two weeks, I'll probably put them on eBay.

Games / Humble Bundle games, including Bioshock Bundle

I've never played any of the Bioshock games, but I've read good things about them.

This looks like an excellent deal. £7.99 for the three? Think I might just take the plunge!

Hoping my laptop will manage it.  It's not exactly a gaming machine but these are relatively old games, and I think it meets the minimum requirements.

Hi, I created a thread a while back advertising comic collections and other stuff I had for sale on ebay.

I meant to add to that thread, but, like many things one puts down and doesn't use for a while, I seem to have mislaid it.

So appologies for creating this new one.

Anyway, it's the paperback of Shimura I have for sale. Please check it out here.

I decided to sell it as I've subscribed to the Judge Dredd Megacollection and a hardback of Shirmura came through the door yesterday. (Strangely it didn't include the first story which *is* in this version, but apparently that's in a Hondo City Justice edition later.)

This is a nice collection. Happy bidding.

As I've got the new Partworks version of Origins I decided, a touch reluctantly (I particularly like the cover of this version) to put my original paperback version on ebay. I've also listed a few other books, mainly marvel comic collections.

Not comic related  (although you can read some comics on it if you don't mind the colour stuff  in monochrome or grey-scale) but as I've got my eye on Kindle's new Paperwhite I thought I'd put my old ereader on eBay.

Film & TV / Sleepy Hollow Series - Minor spoilers.

I'm sure someone started a thread about this a short while ago, but I couldn't find it. And ironically I couldn't find the search function either.

So apologies for the repeat.

Anyway, I enjoyed the film Sleepy Hollow a lot. (I know there seem to be a fair few here who dislike Tim Burton films. I'm not one of them, so I guess I'm biassed, but I think this is a good film regardless incorporating supernatural horror, creepy whimsical tone and location, comedy and period drama as it does. Oh, and a decent mystery story.) So I was intrigued to learn there was a series being adapted. I had an idea it might be an extension of the original idea, hopefully with twists to differentiate it from the original but a similar period drama setting.

I came across this article today on Bleeding Cool though. It seems they're bringing it to a present day setting with Ichabod Crane waking up after a long sleep Buck Rogers style.

Yeah. Not sure about that at all, although the review seemed fairly positive. I guess I can understand the change of time period when considering budget (I mean they relocated the Connors from the 90s to the noughties in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and I seem to remember the nineties looking pretty similar).

Anyway, we'll see. The themes mentioned could be interesting. I don't really buy that reviewers idea that including religious elements will make it bad, just because it apparently was for Heroes. It's all about how it's done.

Film & TV / Cockneys Vs. Zombies

Okay, this is another film coming out which completely passed me by.

The zombie thing is getting a bit old... but this looks hilarious in places. (I'll admit I'm not keen on the over-swearing though.) One bloke looks like he's been transported straight out of Snatch, although he's probably not the scum bag he was in that one.

Anyway-  red band trailer, so lots of gore and potty language. I think Richard Briers will be the star of this. (That zim-chase bit tickled me.)
