It was definitely too long but I felt the real issue was that it focused on the least interesting parts of the story and not the most interesting parts.

1. An immortal being suffering from Alzheimer's of whatever it was called.

2. The death of an immortal & leader and the impact on the group - it's largely glossed over for plot reasons we come to understand later but I felt there was something really interesting to explore here.

3. With such a diverse and varied cast you don't get enough time with each one to ultimately give a shit about what happens to them.

Aha! I get it now it's the complete lack of thought and effort. I also gave socks as a gift to a male friend this Xmas but they had dinosaurs on them and they went with a copy of Battle: Invasion 1984.

Sounds like you have some nice friends though. Hope you had a nice Xmas too 

It's not so much that I spent more, its just that in my opinion socks are the stereotypical lazy gift.  She might not have had much money but as I say I would rather have had nothing with a nice card, it's hard to explain.

@ Jade, I also spent more on gifts than I received. When I start to feel bitter I remind myself I bought those nice gifts because that's who I am.

I didn't think it was the greatest adaptation book lovers could have asked for but I think it's a good intro to the world and I'm looking forward to seeing where this can go.

Caught Lamb over the Xmas break and if you are into your dark Scandi (well Icelandic) cinema this one is going to be right up your street. 10/10 from me - absolutely loved it.

Also watched Titane, a new French movie which is equally bizarre but not as gripping. I'm still trying to figure out what it's about - humans relationship with technology or the role of women in society; as either sexual objects or desexualised mother .
