An empty bullet case AND photcopied brochures for submachineguns, you've made my inner 15-year-old-gun-nut very happy.

Off Topic / Primal Scream
05 August, 2002, 09:28:10 PM
Probably no one here cares 'cos you're a bunch of sad old goth wankers, but the new Primal Scream albulm is very loud, very nasty, and kicks the shit out of that Nu-Metal crap the kids all listen to these days. I haven't heard anything this Punk Rock since The Prodigy stopped being any good.

General / Futureshock scripts
04 August, 2002, 12:30:42 AM
I have now added an archive of some of my older scripts to my site, mainly Futureshocks that were rejected by Tharg. In some cases you can see why, by I like to think they retain a certain inventiveness and sense of fun (My later ones are much better, oh yes. But they either haven't been rejected yet or I'm doing something else with them).

Anyway, they may be of interest to any of you out there that are thinking of writing comic scripts

General / Gothic Love - How beautifully dark.....
31 July, 2002, 12:51:51 AM
Goth mockery never really gets old, does it?

I am assured that this site is absolutely, totally, for real.  It'd be pretty hard to make it up...

General / Simple Chat Room...
17 July, 2002, 10:24:16 PM
Though the simple chat room isn't quite as nice as the HTML one we had a while back, it does seem to be fairly workable, though empty for long stretches of time. This means the only way to have a conversation is logging in and lurking till someone turns up, which  can be a long wait... Also, if your waiting for someone to turn up your probably doing something alse with your computer at the same time, so you might miss someone as they  pop in, see nothing happening, and then leave again.

To get round this may I suggest we all try logging in around about the same time? Say about 12ish and 6ish each day?

Just a thought...

General / Cool Beans Refugees in the Meg?
04 July, 2002, 06:24:02 PM
Now that Cool Beans are sadly no more, any chance of seeing some of the creator owned stuff they we're going to publish in the Meg? The D'Israeli strip in particular looked intriguing.

I see I've made it into Zarjaz 2 as a humerous aside by Gordon Rennie. Bastard.

Who do you rate in the entire History of SF writers, ever?

As everybody probably knows by now, I'm a huge fan of Dick. Other top SF writers for me are Ursula Le Guinn, Alfred Bester, Michael Moorcock and tons of others.

Off Topic / SF Novelists, who floats your boat?
01 July, 2002, 07:49:02 PM
Out of all the current SF Novelists, who is writing the coolest, most cutting edge stuff?

No sneaking old favourites form the 60s and 70s.

My vote goes to Ken McKleod and Jeff Noon, with an honorary mention for Bruce Sterling who is churning out some pretty cool stuff.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a much better Time Twister that uses pretty much the same twist, only with time machines instead of spaceships. Does anyone remember this? Was it an Alan moore one?

General / Morrison, Movie, Masturbation
05 June, 2002, 10:06:40 PM
Just got this from Bad Signal (the Warren Ellis email newsletter):

" Variety is reporting today that Grant
Morrison has sold a pitch for a family
action film, SLEEPLESS KNIGHTS, to
Dreamworks, with Guillermo Del Toro
(sp?)  tentatively attached to direct.
This is Good News.  All go and jerk off
for Morrison's success now.  It worked
for THE INVISIBLES.  He's being going
out to LA "in search of profit," in
his words, for a lot of years, and it's
about time it paid off for him. "

Website and Forum / Oi! Scojo! Radio buttons!

Scojo, for your poll questions you might want to use radio buttons rather than checkboxes, otherwise it's possible to select more than one answer.

General / Writers Poll
14 May, 2002, 04:25:03 PM
Should we have a best writers poll similar to the artists one we had a bit ago?

I'd set one up, but either I don't have permissions to do that or I'm too dumb to figure out how to access that bit of the site.

Website and Forum / Ugly banners on homepage
15 April, 2002, 04:58:34 PM
What the hell is that ugly shit on the right hand side of the homepage? Get it the hell off of there now. If people are having trouble finding those sections of the site you dhould work on improving the navogation, not add ugly-ass internal banner ads.
